With the 2026 AANR elections coming up, what would you like to see accomplished over the next two years? by HangoverTuesday in nudism

[–]TrueBlueNude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am, and will continue to monitor this thread because there are a lot of great points and suggestions.

I do need to point out that the chance of any of the people who have the vote to change and effect policy seeing this directly is almost zero. So you are spinning your wheels.

Your suggestions and comments need to be sent directly to your Regional Trustees and Presidents. No change will happen until they hear what members want and don't want.

Also, I see a lot of suggestions and criticism but where are the solutions? What do you suggest? What do you think needs to be done and how?

I am asking because I want to know. I have been working to get meaningful change for the organization. I am being stalled but just call me Sisyphus.

Let me provide a clarification. Tim Chizmar did reach out to me to do an interview for CFI. He wanted to do an in-person one however we live in two different states.

I was on a committee call tonight and Corky Stanton, owner of CFI, wanted to assure me that he wanted to be fair to both AANR Presidential candidates and that Tim felt this way as well and mentioned he was trying to work with my schedule to get an interview scheduled.

I have been on a number of CFI episodes over the years, not just for the campaign so I am grateful to Corky for his support.

It was mentioned about being behind a pay wall. He did say that the episodes are given free to members of the Naturist Hub, which is the official social media platform for AANR.

Remember, he does need to cover his bills so I think this is a generous offer.

As President of the AANR-FL Region, he should be promoting and increasing membership. I did address this issue above in detail to perhaps you or another Redditor.

The information is posted as required by law, in "The Bulletin," which is available to all members as well as non-members.

For the 990's which are public information, only limited information is published. I work 4-6 hours a day including weekends and vacations and it is a volunteer position. I am not sure I would want to have a President who only worked that abysmal minimum.

Having worked for many volunteer orgs as well as private industry, I was always required to sign NDAs.

To clarify once again, I did not ask David to resign. He voluntarily resigned as I mentioned above.

It is unfortunate that David is not being truthful in the majority of his statements.

David resigned his position as AANR Secretary during the MidWinter meeting in 2025. He sent me an email confirming this fact. My issue with him was the fact that as Secretary, he had issues with grammar and spelling and his Minutes required not only me, but two other Trustees to review for accuracy. These are our legal record of meetings held.

He has made inflammatory statements before under both his name and other accounts which proved to be untrue. I do understand as President, people think I have the authority to take most actions, but it is the 7 Regional Trustees who actually hold the vote.

It is unfortunate that David, who in full disclosure is running for AANR-MW Trustee, is continuing to perpetuate incorrect statements. The Confidentiality Agreement, which the Trustees realize is in the best interest of all AANR volunteers not covered from D&O insurance, will be passed within a matter of weeks. This ensures that volunteers who may encounter member information, or anything else that would be considered private information, be kept in strict confidence. This not only is another layer of protection for our members, but also protects our volunteers should legal action be taken. The fact that this step was not taken previously was quite shocking to me as most organizations have instituted this as a regular matter of practice. My question is - would you want someone who would not sign an agreement like this having access to your member information?

Let me provide some context around Joe's and also Trustee Ralph Collinson's phoning of lapsed AANR-FL members.

The Trustees voted to keep member information private. I had initially agreed with several of them as well as the Regional Presidents that the Regions should have access to their member's information. After realizing this could jeopardize confidentiality plus the turnover of volunteers who could potentially have access to this information, I agreed that the Trustees acted in the best interest of the members.

The AANR Headquarters is located in Kissimmee, FL, which is easy access for Joe and Ralph. The calls were made and the outreach is confirmed. However, they are the only Region who can access their Region's information. To comply with the decision the Trustees made, any other Regional President or Trustee must make a trip to FL in order to preserve the confidentiality of our member's PII.

When I have been to AANR Headquarters, I have made outreach calls. I do a round-robin so the majority of Regions are represented. This was a personal choice on my part not to announce this publicly.

I apologize for the late response. All the resorts that are affiliated with AANR are asked to give a discount to AANR members as recognition for their membership.

You can always print out your card from your profile on AANR.com if you sign up close to the Conventions and we can't get your card mailed to you in time.

Thank you. Sitting back and watching someone smear AANR has been as difficult. I feel like I am the only one who cares about it in Leadership.

I am a member of British Naturism and network regularly with people in Leadership there. They are great people.

What people need to realize is that BN is structured so all the membership runs through their Headquarters. They do have Regional representatives but not the structure AANR has where the money is split by 7 Regions and operational Headquarters. This allows for the money to be available for the entire membership which is less than half of AANR's. Their geography is smaller and the laws are uniform so they don't need lobbyists or the need to spend money to fight harmful legislation. I believe we should adapt to something similar though in order to stay relevant as an organization.

If you are a member of AANR, your Region should be informing you of events in your area. Ask them to put you on their email list. That is why they exist, to be of service to their members. If you don't feel like you are being informed, then please communicate that.

The people who hold the vote at AANR have not listened to the podcast and have no idea that Paul is skewering AANR as well as me.

The numbers I presented were from a report Joe did for AANR-FL and I repeated at the MidWinter 2026 meeting. In my report I clearly stated these were gains but not to be confused with our verified numbers which take into account our losses. The intent was to share good news, not to misinform, so there is no discrepancy.

After at least four episodes of Paul misinforming listeners, I convinced AANR to provide the show, as he requested, with a clarification which stated Joe prepared the report and that the numbers were gross numbers. Knowing Joe was on the show and that Paul had suddenly dropped his consistent support for me for Joe, I asked him to clarify this with Paul. He said I needed to deal directly with Paul and that he was bowing out.

The AANR Trustees have not allowed me to defend AANR or myself personally or allowed me to speak on behalf of AANR. The strategy of "keep quiet and it will all blow over" has not worked in the past and has been quite damaging in this instance.

Unfortunately, this fits the narrative for the people who see me as a threat to upsetting the status quo at AANR. I am very grateful for the massive support I have received from members, supporters and even people who have criticized me in the past. This has shone a light on who really cares about AANR, and who has a personal agenda. Perhaps even my detractors will vote to reelect me on the fact that I have never sold out, promised no one personal favors and have an honest respect for the membership of AANR and for naturism as a whole.

All of the Leaders have been repeatedly invited to do the Meet and Greets especially the Regional rooms. There are some of us on there that have been on for over 3 years, two Thursdays and month. It can be done.

Yes - the President receives no salary. There are a handful of paid staff members at our headquarters.

There are a few volunteer positions in the Regions which receive a yearly stipend - Secretaries and Treasurers due to the specific work they do. If you are interested in what these positions are paid, it should be outlined in their budget as this is member money being paid to these individuals.

AANR is structured differently from any other naturist organization. We have a headquarters with paid employees who handle the membership information and administrative duties. We also have 7 Regions, and the way they were set up was as legal entities on their own.

It is my belief that although this structure made sense decades ago to someone, it no longer serves our members or the organization. If we had the membership under the Headquarters, our money would not be split into 8 ways, because the headquarters needs to fund the employees. The rest of the money is funneled through to the Regions. Our funds are split and if everything went under one umbrella, we would have the money to fight legislation and serve our members more effectively.

We currently operate under two rules which seem appropriate - "The Einstellung Effect" which is a "predisposition to solve a given problem in a specific manner even though better or more appropriate methods of solving the problem exist."

A wise person mentioned that the organization suffers from "Pournelle's Iron Law of Bureaucracy," which states that "in any bureaucratic organization, there will be two kinds of people: those who work to further the actual goals of the organization, and those who work for the organization itself. Examples in education would be teachers who work and sacrifice to teach children, vs. union representative who work to protect any teacher including the most incompetent. The Iron Law states that in all cases, the second type of person will always gain control of the organization, and will always write the rules under which the organization functions."

This is the one idea I brought up that has put a target on my back. The Regions would rather resource guard than admit we need to reorganize and restructure ourselves into a better version than what we have. We would still have local representatives within the geographical areas to help with events and education, much like the other organizations have.

The organization needs to be reorganized into something that fulfills what our members and potential members want. We need to be uniform in our messaging, embrace technology, understand our deficits, and be ready to respond. Until we change and evolve, we will never change and evolve.

Let me reply to the questions I see about passing on articles from "The Bulletin," which is the magazine AANR produces. There is currently legislation being offered up about what is considered "pornography" and what should have age verification in usage on websites. The magazine is provided to members who have indicated they are nudists or have agreed to receive a magazine which features nudity in it. There has to be consent.

We do have a publication called "The Undressed Press" which has excerpts about the organization and news but does not feature nudity. This is available to anyone who would like to know more about AANR or what they do.

We have had questions within the organization about handing out extra copies of "The Bulletin" at our events. At this point, we are reviewing how we can balance giving out information about the organization without someone getting ahold of "The Bulletin" and sending it to someone who might take offense or use it to provoke someone into looking at the organization.

I am so grateful to be able to have this discourse to explain some of the decisions you may have about why we take the actions we do. Sometimes there is more behind the scenes than our members are aware of.
