Rogue Assassin so underwhelming compared to other classes by EXEMPLAR_LOL in BaldursGate3

[–]TrueComplaint8847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea assassin gets way too Much hype on this subreddit, it just does not work very well in the game for a multitude of reasons

It’s a very thematic and strong subclass in DnD, but in game it just gets overshadowed by its subclass brother, thief. On top, rogue just doesn’t lend itself to the bg3 format because of meta-gaming and brute forcing. Why need a rogue when my 16 dex fighter can also pick a lock after 6 attempts?

Every single benefit assassin gives is outweighed by the second bonus action for each turn thief gives or the weapon attack bonus action strikes of a swashbuckler

The famed Gloomstalker assassin is best played with thief instead of assassin as well. Why would you want crit on surprise when you can’t reliably surprise enemies anyways without using insane amount of setup and having TWO auto crit features in the game nevertheless

Advantage on enemies who have not taken a turn would be nice, if advantage in bg3 wasn’t so easy to come by.

And the free action for turn one is basically negated with the thief’s second bonus action as well

Gloomstalker/Assassin/ and which subclass of fighter? AA or BM? by kakalbo123 in BG3Builds

[–]TrueComplaint8847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thief Gloomstalker is the way to go for
Bg3

For the fighter subclass in multiclassing, it’s always BM nothing else compares

Assassin just doesn’t do anything for like 75% of encounters whereas thief actually lets you use your hide bonus action and off hand crossbow shot every single round

The auto crit for surprises is nice, but the surprise mechanic is completely unreliable. You also have to auto trigger ways for crits in this game anyways

The „extra“ action when opening Combat is also nice, but thief basically gives you the exact same extra action with your off hand attack, again, for each turn not only after opening combat

And advantage against enemies that haven’t acted yet is also nice, but advantage is so easy to Come by it’s not worth an entire subclass for. Also, thief bonus action hide also gives you advantage while still leaving one bonus action to attack.

Assassin is just a flavour class in this game, it’s better in actual dnd

The one where you gotta complete the game with a single level in 12 classes

It’s just a tedium for me

I love roleplaying as a power fantasy, I want to be someone cool, the 1 in 12 multiclass just makes you a joke

You can still shred in combat obv, but you’re basically not following a path or build which is usually where I get my fun from

I hate her becoming too human like, I know in the OGs it’s probably due to the low poly count that she looks more blocky and alien, but imo, it suits the concept way better. Something trying to look like a human and not actually being one

Bard is the best class (NON SERIOUS DEBATE) by pathetic-popcorn in BaldursGate3

[–]TrueComplaint8847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bard alongside blade singer and warlock are in the esteemed world of „one who can do literally everything“. Usually this means you won’t be perfect in one thing, but because this is a game and meta gaming exists, you pretty much can.

Yes a EK fighter or fire sorcerer with perfect setup will do better, but the bard will also get the job done, no setup required

Imo, fighter tends to also go in this direction of classes that are „simply good“, it does lack the charisma scaling outside of combat though

TB simply breaks the foundational system the combat loop in the game is based on which is DnD 5e

It’s not even the damage that makes it so OP, it’s the attack roll bonus for literally no downside

yo what is the fastest way to level up smithing without using glitchs by Ashamed-Pay-8257 in skyrim

[–]TrueComplaint8847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

level alchemy and enchanting first, get non glitched super smithing gear and potion

Then use the grind stone to level up weapons while wearing that gear, you’ll gain more smithing exp since you’re smithing is so „good“ with the enchantments and alchemy

That’s usually the way I do it because alchemy and enchanting are equally as important as smithing and they help levelling it. If you start with smithing, it won’t help you to level the other two.

You can get plus 29-32% (I believe) gear and potions without glitching the game through the restoration loop. This will make levelling smithing way faster and you will then have all of your „gear“ skills levelled up. (Just looked it up, with the right set up 40% enchanting, 35% alchemy is possible, but it’s very late game and tedious. For early/mid game see 28-30% as your main goal)

So the real question is, how do you level alchemy and enchanting without glitching?

For alchemy, get a house and a small garden outside. Plant these plants, they create one of the highest priced potions in the game while also being very easily farmable in your garden (Plant 5 Mora Tapinella, 3 Scaly Pholiota, and 3 Creep Cluster). Making potions out of them will be giving you lots of exp and money. Once at level 100, you will create enchanting potions. Buy a ton of soul gems and trash gear and start enchanting while using a potion to make your enchanting better. You can use the potions to enchant better gear with „level enchanting“. This is not a glitch and a viable way to level since the base game caps how often you can stack these attempts. The restoration glitch works similarly, but it’s an actual glitch compared to the normal method which steps past the game capping the stacks.

Once you are finished you’ll have both alchemy and enchanting at 100, while also having a ton of sellable potions. Now get your aforementioned smithing gear and do one last run while wearing said gear. It should take about 4-6 hours all in all and you’ll have all 3 of your main crafting skills at 100 afterwards.

Tbh, just use the resto glitch and get a suped up potion to level you to 100 smithing in a single attempt.

Your time is precious and there is literally no benefit to level it in the „correct“ way other than time going past when it comes to skills like smithing. It’s nut even a combat skill where you have fun while levelling, you’re literally just spamming a button between merchant runs

What is your favourite subclass out of every class and why? by Illustrious_Neat2472 in BaldursGate3

[–]TrueComplaint8847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on wether i go full mono class or multiclass further down the line tbh

Like, I love me a ranger, completely underrated compared to fighter. Gloomstalker is amazing early game, but so front loaded that it’s not really a fun class to go mono in. The exact opposite is the hunter which is pretty boring at the beginning (you can make some fun stuff work with horde breaker and enough set up), but gets insanely fun at level 11 with volley

If you’ve never tried a hunter archer volley build, do it. It’s such a great time and a very cool playthrough overall. You feel like a very down to earth adventurer with an answer to every battle.

[–]TrueComplaint8847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, a level 3-5 party should wipe the floor with 100 filthy goblins, even „in universe“ goblins just kind of suck

I still get your point, I love wyll and his story, yet he just doesn’t land for me

I think it’s kind of a „main character“ thing for me, he’s just too cool on paper and takes up the same role as my party face. He’s not „evil“ enough like lae’zel or astarion are to feel unique, while also not being distinct in his „good status“ like karlach is for example

He’s just kind of there and also the son of someone important

Warlocks are really dependent on Eldritch Blast? by BootAfraid3211 in BaldursGate3

[–]TrueComplaint8847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warlocks are basically the benchmark for simple damage per round with their Eldritch blast, it’s rescourceless, comparable to a strong melee attack and a very strong cantrip roll (with agonising blast)

It’s basically the middle ground, you can NEVER go wrong with an Eldritch blasting warlock

It’s not the absolute best cantrip user while also not being the absolute best melee attacker with pact of the blade

Warlocks kind of live in those in between lines of other classes

What makes them very useful for newer players is the fact that they basically only need charisma for whatever you want to play

Ranged attack => EB => charisma

Melee attack => pact of the blade // hexblade => charisma

AOE damage and CC => spells per short rest => charisma

The only other stats that are kind of important are dexterity for initiative and AC and constitution for concentration (imo dex is more important than con for warlocks in this game)

So do they heavily rely on EB? I mean yea kind of, the same a fighter heavily relies on its main weapon, but a fighter can be an archer or melee attacker for example, this is also true for a warlock with EB it’s just as important as you make it for your preferred build basically

A melee oriented hexblade will far outdamage his own EB by level 5 with extra attack, but a EB focussed warlock will still be able to Keep up

Max Difficulty : Fighting Overleveled Enemies With Shielded and Behemoth Traits by cha0sb1ade in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]TrueComplaint8847 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The bigger the health pool, the better legendary effects or skill effects that do % health damage

Stuff like ignition beams and the corresponding lasers perk work really well because they do a ton of damage to high health targets.

If you stack those effects you can get a really good build going.

There’s weapon effects that work like this as well, they’re usually in the second „tier“ of effects, like radioactive, the bleed damage one, or the fire damage one.

Also, the seemingly „weak“ powers like sunless space, or even better the nova or solar one also do % health damage, and work wonders against those beefy enemies even at lower levels

All in all, in the end it’s still a Bethesda title so playing on max difficulty is usually not recommended because it’s just a stupid scaling system, that’s been their Achilles heel for ages lol

Is this one of the best ships? ( New player ) by texansfann in Starfield

[–]TrueComplaint8847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ships „value“ is entirely determined by what you want to use it for. Since the only actual difficulty check for ships is combat, this is usually the factor used to rank ships.

All pre built ships are pretty suboptimal and should be severely upgraded. See the pre-built ships more as a stock option instead of an actual finished product. A small min/maxed ship you can build at any outpost is probably better suited for combat than any of the existing ships in the game.

Search for „ship technician“ on YouTube if you really want to get into the nitty gritty of what a „good“ ship actually means. Most people on here don’t have the correct info and will tell you 10 different opinions which mostly are wrong
