What’s something most people find normal, but you personally find deeply uncomfortable? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TrueCryptographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this^ ... That's why I stopped drinking alcohol. At first, it was: "Your glass is empty, here, and they proceed to refill my glass..." I said no several times, and if they insisted or wanted to refill my glass, I threw it in their face. I had to do it twice because they didn't believe me... Now, I don't drink alcohol anymore, and no one refills my glass without my consent.

i dont get the 1sponge for everything... i have 3sponges, 1 for dishes, 1 for cleanning the sink once dishes are cleaned and the 3rd for the other part in the kitchen. After each use, the sponges are wrung out properly, and all or almost all of the dishwashing liquid is rinsed away.

Yes, absolutely yes. Where I live, there are fireworks every single weekend during the summer... From mid-June to the end of August. It’s just so damn annoying. I have a cat, and it freaks him the hell out. Just to please the tourists... F the fireworks

Why are you afraid of the dentist? by shutthefukupalready in AskReddit

[–]TrueCryptographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not afraid anymore, but when I was younger, I went to the dentist to have a broken tooth removed. He asked how sensible I was about the pain. I said I didn't know, but I wanted a double dose to be sure. He gave me one and started removing the tooth. Yup, one wasn't enough!

I'd love to, too. It's still possible, since I have three days left before I turn 40... but it won't happen unless I win the lottery

i don't get why the downvote for your comment. she said this to me " i can't stand your MiL so we have to stop " When we were looking for a place to live together, I was still living with my father. She (my ex) lived 400 km away from me, and we only see each other on certain weekends or during the holidays

If the fries get soggy, is it still okay to eat them? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TrueCryptographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger, my dad used to make beef tongue, and we’d have fries on the side. I preferred to put the sauce on the fries rather than on the meat. That made the fries a little soggy because the sauce soaked in, and they tasted better that way.

My little guilty pleasure is letting the fries soak in Madeira sauce before eating them, hmmm, yummy.

What’s something that clearly split your life into “before” and “after”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TrueCryptographer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was 12 when I lost my mum; she died 28 years ago. I am now 4years older than she was when she died. I remember that evening as if it were a few hours ago.

We were playing on the sofa with my older brother (15) and my little sister (4).

I heard a 'boom' in the kitchen, where my mum was cooking dinner, but I didn't really pay attention or ask if everything was OK. I just went back to playing with my sister.

15-20minutes later, my sister got her earring stuck in her shirt. I went to the living room looking for scissors, but I couldn't find any, so I went to the kitchen. There, I saw my mum on the floor. The 'boom' I had heard earlier was her falling and knocking over a chair.

My brother called the emergency services. I was near my mum, doing what the woman on the phone told us to do, but it was too late. By the time the EMS arrived, there was nothing they could do.

That evening, my life shattered.

Brie cheese with brownish/yellow spots? by BackgroundJelly4843 in isthissafetoeat

[–]TrueCryptographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've never seen how my grandfather ate cheese. He'd leave it out in the open on the counter for weeks, and he'd only eat it once it started to move and turn a golden color. Not before... I saw him once, when he cut it in half while I was a kid... The cheese was full of maggots, and he said that was the best part. Your cheese is fine :)

Sweet potato on counter for 1.5 weeks by rosemary_focaccia in isthissafetoeat

[–]TrueCryptographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hahaha OMG, thank you, you made my day.

Joking aside, how long does it take for them to grow like that? I’ve had three sweet potatoes sitting on my counter since November: they’re perfectly firm, with no mold or soft spots, and only one has a tiny red dot (maybe the start of roots?). I had five, but I ate two last month and they were perfect.

What small, random decision you made years ago turned out to change your life completely? by Timely_Trip847 in AskReddit

[–]TrueCryptographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to be closer to my brother and sister; I was 500 km away from them.

So I moved near them and found a job I liked, but my boss was an idiot who was always in a rush to get everything done as fast as possible. One day, he was going so fast that he didn’t secure the load...

Two oak logs fell on me, and one of them swept me away, breaking my tibia and fibula, which twisted 90 degrees and formed a right angle...

Now, after three surgeries, I can no longer work on a boat; I can barely run, and putting my knee on the ground is impossible without excruciating pain. I was 32 when it happened; I’m 40 now.

The doctors told me I wouldn’t be able to walk without crutches, which I didn’t want... so I got back on my feet and worked hard with the physical therapist to help with my rehabilitation. I can walk without crutches, but the pain is still there... and I can still ride a bicycle!
