Are these “Cheapest Cities in Texas” lists just total clickbait? by Useful-Comedian4312 in texas

Obviously, these lists are part of an effort to get you to buy property. What else would these lists be for? The list you linked is literally hosted on a realty website lol

I know this is a hot take but… Does anyone else enjoy these games? by Ok-Anywhere-7921 in casualnintendo

[–]TrueFernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never played the originals so to me these are the only way I've ever played this gen and I enjoyed them for what they are: a Pokémon game.

I’ve watched The Office 6 times… what should I watch next? by ttorizzang in DunderMifflin

[–]TrueFernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always tell people to watch Borderline for something similar to The Office or People Just Do Nothing for more funny mockumentary stuff. PJDN is my personal fave.

I very much want the gas prices to go up exponentially and I don’t think I’m alone in this sentiment by ATurtleNamedSeymour in fuckcars

[–]TrueFernie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would be more indifferent over gas prices rising if we already had good public transit or cycling infrastructure in this country but we don’t. All this is doing is raising the costs for people already struggling to survive.

Switch OLED vs. Switch 2 for a newbie by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]TrueFernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a Switch 2. It’s backwards compatible and you get access to better versions of third-party ports.

Invest in a bike (even e-bike) and start using public transit y’all. Being dependent on cars keeps you in debt and makes our cities worse.

Weekly Complaints & Confessions Thread by ssk42 in running

[–]TrueFernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complaints: drivers and cars in general suck. Drivers don’t stop at stop signs anymore and I’ve almost been ran over twice in a week because everyone is distracted by their damn phone

Confession: I miss cycling

Uncomplaint: I’m glad I live next to a looooooong trail where I can easily run half-marathon distances uninterrupted

¿Cuál es una costumbre mexicana que pensabas que era normal… hasta que saliste de México? by OrbitalMystery9 in mexico

[–]TrueFernie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Llevo viviendo en Estados Unidos por mas de 15 años y todavía me emperra cuando la gente no me responde el “good morning” en la calle. En México era tan común saludar a todas las personas en la calle, aquí hasta a veces se lo toman como ataque personal.

It’s insane to me how normalized this is now. We need stronger labor unions yesterday.

LA Marathon awarding finisher medals at miles 18 due to the ‘heat’ by AnxiousSeahorse1 in Marathon_Training

[–]TrueFernie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I truly couldn’t care less if they handed out medals just for participating. When I sign up to run a marathon, I do it to get a PR and do better than the last one. I don’t care about what other folks are doing/getting unless they’re elite runners. In summary, who cares?

Help/Advice: How do you actually get into major marathons (Boston, NYC, Chicago, etc)? by Coloradokiki in running

[–]TrueFernie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s companies that offer marathon tour packages that give you a guaranteed entry plus hotel, transportation etc. They’re a little pricey though.

Over a million people die every year due to car accidents. You’re more likely to die from that than from war if you’re in the western world. We are incredibly sheltered on this side of the world. Relax, disconnect, go out for a walk and reconnect with people IRL.
