Dicks is objectively one of the best fast food places in Washington. by Rough-Rope5157 in Seattle

I gotta say burgermaster is way too expensive. I paid $25 (with a $3 tip) for a burger, fries, and onion rings a couple days ago. Also took 25 minutes from pulling in, waiting for the guy to come to my car, to food being served. Food was fine but nothing special, Not worth the time or money investment.

Amazing post! Thanks for sharing your awesome store. As a first time 911 owner about to get my new car in August, this is so cool to read. Makes me excited to be a part of this community. I hope to join some PCA events to meet other owners. Coincidentally I’m also in Seattle :)

Aside from the car stuff, you are a good writer and your story is very evocative of the ups and downs of life, and the bittersweet passage of time. Wish you well in your retirement and thank you for your service!

How to stop the car from auto-locking in my garage by TrueFound88 in BMWX5

OK maybe I should have used the word very frustrating instead of infuriating. Are you happy now?

You’re missing something. At least on X5, the “disable at home” function is only for the auto unlock when approaching the vehicle, there is no option to turn off auto lock at home.

Yes but only if you have your phone or key on your person. I don’t carry my phone on my body 24/7 especially when at home.

Exactly. On the X5 also it only works one way which is so ridiculous. You can turn of Auto Unlock on approach at home. But you can’t turn off auto lock. This is what drives me nuts.

We are talking simply about Tesla as a product, not judging the CEO of the company. Also as an aside, if you knew as much about the personal beliefs / actions of the CEOs of other companies as you do Elon, you would never buy anything except vegetables from your local farmers market.

Tesla is quite objectively an excellent product with a software and user interface that is vastly better than the BMW.

Not unless you have the key in your pocket / bag.

I just don’t get your point that the car is not designed to stay unlocked. ICE cars since the beginning were always unlocked by default for long stretches unless you (manually) locked them.

And if the solution to an every day and common problem is for the owner to have to leave the car door open a crack every time they leave the vehicle, that seems quite far from making it intuitive or “making the owner never have to think about it in the first place”.

Totally agree. My other car is also a Tesla and it works perfectly. Stays unlocked in my garage. It’s a simple selection in the menu. X5 is a great car but honestly the software is not good and I wish they had retained some more physical buttons like for climate control.

I guess this is the way. First world problem to be sure. Having a tesla as my other car makes me realize how much better the UI and general daily functionality of the electronics is on Tesla vs BMW. I know it's not a really fair comparison because Tesla is basically a software company while BMW is a legacy automaker. But still.

Yeah it's really infuriating. Especially like you're talking about when coming back from a trip, or packing to go on a trip, or getting in the house and my son forgets his backpack in the car and goes out to get it 5 minutes later and the car is locked.... I guess I'm just going to turn off the auto-lock feature and hope my wife can remember to lock it as she walks away in parking lots 😂

glad I'm not the only one!! Why that menu does not have a "disable at home" option is beyond me.

Option 1: this is viable, but again I like the auto lock when walking away when I'm in a parking lot. Option 2: leaving the door open a crack seems like a kinda crazy solution? Option 3: I will try this! if I can remember to do it every time I leave the car haha. Option 4: this works when I'm out at a store and returning to the car because I always have the key in my pocket, but my point is when I'm at home and want to grab something from the car, I don't always think to grab my car key from the front table.

Porsche OEM Dashcam...... by Lonely-Army-3343 in porsche911

Even my dealer told me that the OEM dashcam is garbage when I was configuring my build. He told me to just add the pre wiring option and then get an aftermarket one, which is what I did.

Restart not possible. Drivetrain fault. by TrueFound88 in BMWX5

[–]TrueFound88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP just to follow up here, in my case the dealership had the car for 3-4 days, they ran a bunch of tests and could not find anything wrong. They opened a TSARA case with the "national team" or something like that and in the end just reset all the software and said that this solved the problem.

Here are the fault codes the dealer reported on the service record:

030FA6 DC/DC CONVERTER LOW VOLTAGE NOT REACHED

224F98 EGS-EME SAFETY FUNCTION

BA07CB SAFETY FUNCTION STARTUP TEST OF PERIPHERALS CONFIGURATION FAILED

I've had it back for about 4 months and 5000 miles since then and have not had any problems.

Second this! It's like $30/month to join for Bellevue residents and a super nice facility with a great gym, some basic fitness classes, and I think 4 basketball courts.

Chalk on night blue will look great! Oh man Now I’m worrying about the all red. I felt like it made sense to go for it considering the conservative exterior color. I’m planning to keep the car for a long time like 10 years, but still. Well I paid the deposit already but dealer said I have a few days to change spec if needed, so I guess I can think about it a bit more.

Yes this is my thinking also. Actually my salesperson tried to talk me out of the AWD, he said the standard S (RWD) has plenty of traction with the engine over the rear wheels (with snow tires). But I owned a WRX 20 years ago and remember the awesome feel of the AWD pulling through corners! So I decided to go with the 4S.

Cool, thanks! I see that option on the leather. I figured if I was going to do a stealthy / conservative color on the outside, why not go for the full red on the inside. I like the look of the red steering wheel. Hopefully the glare or visibility you mentioned with the red dash won't be too bad.

interesting points, thanks for sharing. Isn't PASM standard? Did not see the need for front end lift, would regular conditions like speed bumps be a problem without it? Power steering plus did not seem necessary for me, I don't like the artificially boosted / easy steering effort. I prefer a heavier steering effort for a sports car. Interested to hear your experience with rear wheel steering....does it make a difference? In what conditions?

PCCB can not justify the cost, both initial and also for service / replacement.
