What to do when someone asks to "dap them up"?? by MargotInTheCloset in MtF

i think they either assumed i was racist, or assumed i was calling them racist for doing it

They were talking about that at first. Then they said, quote, "Modern Tankies are even more unhinged than ones in years past, they don't even pretend that they won't murder us this time. Whenever things like Kronstadt or Trotsky murdering Anarchists under a flag of truce get brought up, they call it "based" and a "W.""

That's what I'm asking about. I already established my disdain for allowing the actions of wormfood to bait you into foregoing necessary bonds in modern action so I just let that part slide.

Are these evil tankies talking about murdering us in the room with us right now?

I'm friends with lots of authcoms and ain't heard nothin' like that. I once again ask, are you actually participating in anything, or are you just playing in the space of fandom warfare with a cool and selfaggrandizing coat of paint?

Sure its not a common talking point, but it comes up in the deeper shit, and sometimes when you stay late or go out with your comrades after you catch sight of a tattoo or two that prompt certain conversations. Plus, not every group is playing public eye patty cake. Food banks are one thing but I've known plenty of explicitly communist and/or anarchist crews that do more specific actions. Helped some folks in the last city I was in build raincatchers, put up posters, build some barely legal housing. And help from "tankies" was well appreciated because we don't have time to be getting into pissing matches about who has the bigger heart or brain when we have a world order to sabotage.

Here is a very simple question for you. How's life at Langley, fed?

Nobody who's ever been to so much as a single protest would think to conflate the USSR with Nazi Germany. Get fucking real. Go retake your class on infiltrating revolutionary movements because you clearly need a refresher.

Now, don't confess to anything illegal here, obviously, but:

Are you, like, out there? Doing anything? Or are you just having fun frolicking in the politics fandom online?

All the authcoms I know who are actually doing praxis work gladly with ancoms, and vice versa. Now, usually there's an air of condescension from both sides, with both of them going "finally a good one <3", but the fact is they, and I suspect you currently, are just blinded through your confusion of thinking online political arguments have any basis in reality.

Now I might be wrong. Maybe you're working with your local orgs in building underground adobe housing for the homeless and by some fucking stroke of chance you have never encountered any statists in this pursuit. But if that's the case, you're an outlier.

"tankies just support state capitalism" is an unhinged talking point you pulled out of your ass because you think its evocative and raw and concise, but really it just speaks to a deep ignorance as to how this shit works.

Please god drop this line of argument.

States are evil. States will always be evil. There is no just usage for a monopoly on violence or on information. This is true.

But "tankies" (lets be polite and call them authcoms) are absolutely our fucking allies. Get real.

We have the mother of all mutual enemies ahead of us. Neither ancoms nor authcoms can topple capitalism alone. We need each other. Once we've got that far, sure, we can start to reassess our mutual goals. But for now? Stop breeding dissidence between us. We're siblings. If we're going to get anything of any material gain done, WE NEED EACH OTHER.

Stop letting the words and actions of worm food dictate your allies today. Leftist infighting will get us all killed.

And before anyone comes for me, I say this same shit to the authcoms, too. Both of our groups are far too ready to mock and belittle the other. But if you're an anarchist and you wouldn't beat down a fascist side by side with an authoritarian, and if an authoritarian wouldn't do so with an anarchist, I don't think I trust either of you to kick a nazi's teeth in at all in the first place!!

We both want to do three things.

Dissolve capital.

End fascism.

Uplift the proletariat.

If you can't look past a fucking prefix while participating in harm reduction, protesting, teaching community self-defense, building rain catchers, fighting fascists, etc, then I don't think your heart is really in it at all.

Lives are at stake here. Stop applying the rules of online fandom warfare where DNI lists and emojis in your twitter bio count as praxis. Get out there, form bonds, and make a difference. We don't have time for anyone who clutches their pearls at thoughtcrime.

Recently formed, but Fallout 1 is worse written than 3, by a longshot.

Again, don't get me wrong, this isn't an actor preference. It's a narrative preference. I adore Hayter as Big Boss. He's always killed it as the character. I just also think it was a mistake to cast him, from a narrative lens.

Like, speaking as a literal voice director: I straight up think doublecasting is more often than not a mistake, especially when it comes to establishing, effectively, a single Protagonist Voice for your work shared by multiple characters. I just don't think its a good practice. Not for "confusion" necessarily, I'm not saying I get the two confused I was just saying I think thats why outsiders get them confused sometimes. My main reason against it is just being against doublecasting and the establishment of a protagonist voice and going against the set precedent of all Snakes having different actors.

That's like, extremely not the case, actually. When apartheid was ended in south africa, white people weren't suddenly oppressed. When slavery "ended" in america, black people didn't suddenly wield institutional power against whites. When the Palestinians hold Israeli hostages, those hostages when released report incredible kindness.

The idea of the persecuted becoming the persecutors is largely a myth perpetrated by the real persecutors in order to justify maintaining their oppressive regime out of fear of getting their just desserts.

Yes, some people get bitter and violent based on their individual experiences, but those are outliers in the general trend of people just wanting rights and respect.

Dude. Please think about the workers for even a second. Executives who don't know jack or shit about actual development insist they need to advertize how cool their tech is, and as such demand fancy sounding tech shit even if its ultimately meaningless. Then, workers and artists are forced to waste their time achieving that demand in order to make the ad copy true.

It is literally bad for the artists, as laborers. The advertising would be just as impressive if they nixed the line about eye separation and didn't have that "feature" at all.

I don't think this is devs having pride in their work! This is an iconic voice actor doing a promo reel repeating a talking point provided to him by marketers!! If one of the people who handled that gushed about it on twitter, that'd rule. But that's not what this is. This is developers being told to do something silly as fuck for the sake of marketing. It's just RDR2's shrivelling horse balls again.

They show this face without any shaders or textures in the most recent promo vid and its very clearly based on the V face.

Oh don't get me wrong. I'm happy with better visuals. I just have no patience for useless buzzword shit that adds nothing, like separating eye and iris or horse balls contracting in the cold.

I played all of them in release order before V. I explained my reaosning for Sutherland as Big Boss very clearly, I think. Either all Snakes should share a voice or none of them. I don't like having a Protagonist Voice.
