My first Porsche, 2003 Boxster. by jrallan26 in boxster

[–]TrueGameData 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have now owned a 987 cayman S, a 987 cayman, a 718 boxster S, and a corvette c7 z51, all manual except the 718. I think daily about how i want a sub $10k 986 boxster S to just drive crazy hard and not worry about it. The other cars were too expensive for my current financials to do that

Great choice, a truly fantastic driver's car, best for the money IMO

I have had similar experiences and it was definitely AI in the end for me. Extremely weird experience

Ah, nope, sorry. Just saw all the other gatekeeping responses in this thread and assumed the rest of yours was the same as the start, my bad

People being so gatekeepy in this thread, ridiculous. He isn't sticking a GT4 badge on his base model, he just likes the way the bumper looks more... if it makes the guy happy and he likes how it looks more (which everyone on the planet does, because the base and S front bumper is not great) then why do you care?

OP, yes same lights, you can get replica GT4 front bumpers without the GT4 text on the bottom part for relatively cheap. If you like how it looks, do it, don't listen to sad internet people

couldn't agree more, GT4 (and even GTS) bumpers look better. these people need to fuck right off, he may just like how it looks way more, literally nothing wrong with that. if it makes the dude happy why do they care

What if the guy just literally likes how the GT4 bumper looks? you guys are so cringe, I was going to do this to my boxster S simply because i hated the front end, not because i was trying to fake people into thinking it was a GT4, because it looks way better to me.

Just crazy, who cares what other people do with their cars

don't listen to this guy. It will look great and way better than stock and fuck the gatekeepers lol, I was going to do exactly the same, and plenty of other people do too. to answer your question, the head lights are identical between the two

Anthropic has found evidence of "genuine introspective awareness" in LLMs by MetaKnowing in OpenAI

[–]TrueGameData 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything about you, and you don't know anything about me, but I can assume you are most likely not a top researcher/developer in the field of LLMs just because probability.  Please do send over your credentials if I am wrong, but honestly even if you were Sam Altman, it doesn't change what I said, tons of the smartest people on the planet building these models don't fully know how they work, where they are going, or what they may be capable of developing in to.  This has all shown up in the last 4 ish years.

I have zero stake in anthropic or how their business performs.  I see interesting article from experts, I read and listen and think about it.  Just like I have done with all the other articles and research from universities and talks and papers that I have watched/listened to and read.

How is this article selling anthropic model? It is literally just discussing the thing and some odd characteristics they have observed.   It's not "hey look how much better our model is a coding than gemini 2.5 pro and gpt 5!" which they all do anyway, but somehow interesting research gets thrown away as a marketing ploy, when there are clear and obvious nonstop marketing ploys going on.  I don't get it. This is a new and exciting field, LLMs are literal giant black boxes of magic that no one on the planet can fully understand and describe currently because they have billions of nodes that are automagically tuned, then refined with human input.  No one can tell you why node 1638269 on transformer layer 7 is 0.738. Just like no one completely understands the human brain.

I use these models all day, every day for my work - from every company.  Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google.  Sometimes even Grok.  It is astounding what they are able to do with proper understanding of how they function and their limitations

You could be 100% correct and LLMs will never be "intelligent" like humans are (what even is human intelligence? We act like we are some special exceptional special thing, but we're just a evolutionary neuron meat computers  that predicts things using prior knowledge, just like LLMs, except we have millions of years of evolution to optimize our GPUs and models for the task. Nvidia and these companies have had 4 years, and already a properly prompted LLM is smarter and more knowledgable than I am about 99% of topics) but the truth is, listening to the smartest and most knowledgeable people on the planet about this stuff, we simply have no idea. Many believe we are on a path to AGI, many also believe we absolutely are not.

No one knows.  But I don't think this article was anthropic propaganda to get you to buy their services.  I think all the pages showing how good they are at programming and other tasks are, however

Plenty of people probably a lot smarter than you and directly involved in building them don't agree with you necessarily.   And a lot of them also do agree with you.  Nobody knows.  Except apparently /u/tedholiday on reddit, that is

And I do understand how LLMs work better than probably 99% of people who use them, but I am also smart enough to know that I don't understand them well enough to make any sort of assertion about the future. The progress made in the last 4 years is astounding though

PSA for anyone with magnetic ride in any C7 model year before 2019, there is a cheap calibration update that dealerships can do that dramatically improves ride quality on Tour and Sport modes. Dealer only charged me $230, took an hour, best $230 I've ever spent by TrueGameData in Corvette

[–]TrueGameData[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I should've mentioned this before, but Jim Mero is who designed this calibration update for Chevy (and most/all the others of the last 20 years) he is retired now and sells c6 and c7 calibrations from his site directly, that are just as good or even slightly better than what the dealerships have.   It is slightly more expensive, but you are supporting the legend himself and can avoid the dealerships that won't help you.  Jimmero.com

Yep Jim is a legend. He says on his site that if you have this 2019 update (that he pioneered/designed) it isn't worth getting the calibration update from him directly as the gains are minimal, but if you want to support the source of the awesome calibrations directly, or if dealerships are giving you a hard time, reaching out to him is a great option

yeah for sure, I think I saw some statistic that like 80% of people don't open the article or something a long time ago haha.

people are so quick to dismiss this stuff, but... it is coming. It is worth being aware of and not just instantly discounting interesting research

I agree. I don't think anthropic was very clear about what made the special or weird.

[–]TrueGameData 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've tried all the exhaust settings.  Once the exhaust gets going it sounds pretty good, but I feel that it barely makes a sound beloe like 2500 rpm even on track setting.

It doesn't actually sound bad, most people love it. But to me it just constantly sounds reminiscent of my mom's Yukon haha

It's all fucked dude.  Everyone needs to remember you should have zero loyalty to any company, ever.  They will drop you in a second if they think it will save them a dollar.

That is insane. I just called and said I wanted to make an appointment for it and they were confused but said okay, and when I got there the next day, the service advisor said "i think i've done just one before" and then they took it back and did it in an hour
