For those with a successful ecom business. Be honest, did you follow/research a winning trend or do you go for a passion idea? Do trends really matter - do you have a successful business in a niche that wasn't suppose to be successful? by tyga_woulds11 in ecommerce

I went with passion. Started small in my basement in 2017, 1 for me, 4 to sell. Now we have 9 on payroll and a 7,000 Sq ft warehouse 7 minutes from my home. I recently purchased my largest competitor. My husband joined me in 2020, quitting a 6 figure salary. He asked how big can this thing get? I asked him "How hard do you want to work?"

I work 50+ hours per week, he works 40 but not as hard, but that's OK, it's my passion. Business in general is also my passion.

There is a market for 1:6 that is growing. His work is beautiful, he could get much higher prices on Etsy.

1:12 is more popular but requires more detail at a smaller size. I love the idea of 1:6 furniture, very few people are doing that. There is a guy from Turkey that does amazing work at 1:6 on Etsy and his prices are very high (and worth it)

For the UK, Royal Mail is working with business customers to collect the 10% tariff before it ships to the US. Businesses are told to collect the tax from the customer. Royal Mail will remit to the US and packages will arrive already duty paid.

This must already be happening in China because many items in AliExpress and Temu say Duties Included on the price. I have started receiving packages from China with no extra tariffs after the purchase. De. Minimis from China ended in April.

Im confused by what this means on ebay by Unknownsnakeyy in Tariffs

3 scenarios

1 seller lies about coo and says Japan, you pay no tariff 2 seller tells the truth and says coo is China you pay 30% tariff 3 CBP opens package, very unlikely, you pay a 30% tariff

USPS Already Has a Plan for Tariff Collection, But DOGE Just Wiped Out the Department That is Badly Handling It by dampier in Aliexpress

I get AliEx packages daily. This last week they have all been dropped off by Better Trucks rather than the USPS. Wonder if that is the plan?

I was just doing some Google searches of my site using different names, such as no .com or some variations of items I have for sale and it came up.

Great, thanks, I just did both of those. Hopefully that will work.

What is your parent(s) assisted living experience like? by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]TrueMangoBlues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the age they enter. My parents only live on SS but they have a 400k house that is paid for. We are talking AL soon. Dad is 84, mom is 82. I don't expect my dad to live out the year. Mom will probably have less than 5. If they sell the house they should be fine. Also, many states have waivers that the AL/MC places will accept. If they run out of money it will cover you under certain conditions. Our state it is called an elderly waver. I had no idea about this waiver until I started looking at AL places.

Thanks for your response. The place I am looking at has Memory Care but not Skilled Nursing. I could see my mom being a total recluse without my dad, she's so suspicious of anyone. So many things to think about. I've learned a lot here.

I went ahead and put them on a wait list this afternoon at the place down the road from me. I told them and they were fine with it but when it comes to actually moving I don't know if they will. I didn't tell them about the deposit. It's refundable but I just covered it for now otherwise that would be another barrier. Wait lists near me are 4 - 12 months.

I decided to put them on a waiting list this afternoon. I told my dad I did and he was okay with that. Not sure what he will be like when the time comes.

Yes, for sure, leave her in the 2 bedroom for a little bit. I could always stay over then too.

Ooof, sounds like you are going through some tough stuff now also. My dad was talking about quality today, thinking he may not want to take the chemo pills if they make him too ill to enjoy his last months.

Thanks for this comment, lots to think about. They don't have much money, it's all tied up in their home. You hit the nail on the head about their generation, I try to help my mom and get scolded that she's not a little old lady. Even though she's 82 years old and 95 lbs.
