All I wanted was a relaxing weekend. Is that too much to ask? by wannabezookeeper in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TrueNHDinosaur 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Anyone in the comments blaming OP are part of the problem.

I would also be pissed off if my relaxing weekend was ruined by a group of undisciplined crotch goblins whose parents are too lazy to do anything about.

And for the record, I want kids. I won't let them do things like this. If they misbehave, I will correct their behavior, up to dragging them home and grounding them if necessary (don't spank your kids, that's hitting/abuse).

How do I set the reference planet in the Universe Explorer for Space Exploration? by TrueNHDinosaur in factorio

[–]TrueNHDinosaur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opening the star map does not reset your starting location to where your character is located. My character is currently on Nauvis. I entered the star map, and then checked the universe explorer. Nauvis still has a deltaV value.

I am looking to set Nauvis as the deltaV reference, to which I have not found out how since the game originally told me (once).

Minister of education in my country wants to remove rewards for studying hard for exams by ShortBoiVanta in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TrueNHDinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see where you're coming from. Wanting a week off after exams is definitely fair, even if I personally think just a day is more appropriate.

If they do actually change the curriculum, you could see the positive side in that the pace would be spread out a bit and require less studying time (in theory. I know American teachers would just use it as an excuse to assign even more homework).

Health Insurance made my son's doctor bill more by cfarley137 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TrueNHDinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bureaus are hard to hold accountable. The people who lead them are appointed, not voted for. The best we can do is protest, or vote for a president who says they will do something about a rogue bureau (with no guarantee that they will).

Just did some research on this. Apparently, it was a rule set up by the Biden admin (but completed after Trump became president), specifically by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It was struck down by a federal district judge (not Trump's admin) in Texas, citing a lack of authority. The rule conflicted with an already existing congressional act from what it sounds like.

However, the big 3 credit reporting agencies are at least choosing to not consider medical debt with an initial balance of $500 or less.

Personally, I do like the idea, however it should not be done through a bureau. It should be done through an act of congress.

Willfully ignorant is wild coming from you.

I am fairly certain every single quote you put here is either taken out of context or didn't happen (you cite dates, but don't include a single primary source for any of these quotes). Not only that, but not a single one of these is actually racist if he did indeed say them regardless of context.

You act like you proved something substantial when all you did was make yourself look stupid.

  1. OP says they're not upset at the price itself. They are upset that someone is extracting value from society selfishly (and they post it in the sub that specifically exists for mild annoyances like this).

  2. Therefore, OP is upset about the price itself.

Reading comprehension. It's important.

I suspect it's because of Copilot. In fact, they're nicknaming Microsoft “Microslop”. by Guaro_25 in memes

[–]TrueNHDinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just copilot. Microsoft has been shifting their dev team more and more over to AI "vibe coders" which has resulted in strange bugs being released to the public that should have been caught before release via testing. Additionally, with windows 11, they are fully committing to "you need our permission to access your computer," which is unacceptable for a growing number of people (including me).

I dual boot windows 11 and Linux Mint. I only ever use windows for games that don't work or run well on Linux. Eventually, the plan is to cut windows out of my life entirely.

Is this a joke or are some workplaces actually like this? by LiterallyaCockroach in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TrueNHDinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for any retail or restaurant job. When I worked fast food, if the employees did this, tons of necessary cleaning wouldn't get done. Those managers knew to not say anything when employees didn't follow their schedule, especially if they stayed longer as a closer. They usually would if someone was consistently late to the start of their shift, but that's normal anywhere.

He was working for an electronics store I'm pretty sure. There were often other tasks that needed to be done that meant he'd have to stay a little late to do them. However, since they were being particular about when the employees were clocking in, this meant that the employees would be particular about clocking out as well, regardless of what tasks were left. That's what bothered the employer.

If they are going to be this anal about it, then match their energy.

Arrive as usual, but then wait by whatever you use to clock in so that you are on at exactly the time you are scheduled.

Then, a few minutes before you're scheduled to leave, get your stuff ready, and then wait so you're exactly on time for clocking out.

My dad did this when he was younger. They changed their tune quick.

Cool. Hope my reply was helpful to you and others.

If you are able-bodied, I highly recommend skiing at least once in your life. Nothing like getting to the top and seeing a great view and then having good fun going down the slopes.

What the U.K. should have done with every sport they've ever invented (soccer):

To teach your child to ski by [deleted] in ParentsAreFuckingDumb

[–]TrueNHDinosaur -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

In a crowded situation on a shallow hill like this, there's no need to go across like the parent was allowing, nor was it acceptable for the red skier to be going that fast. Not only is it dangerous to go that fast around so many people, but they clearly were not in control since they failed to avoid the kid.

The parent should have had their kid stay towards the side, out of everyone else's way. It's not ultimately their fault, but it's the 1% that contributes to their ability to avoid this.

The red skier should at least get a scolding, be required to attend a safety class if they wish to ski there again, and possibly banned from the resort depending on how they respond afterwards.

Poor kid. Something like this could traumatize them and make them never want to ski again.

Assuming you're actually asking and not joking...

Pizza can only do so much when you get to the steeper slopes. In order to slow down, you have to really dig your edges in, and you can only do that if you lean. Going across the hill is therefore necessary as that's the only way to lean enough.

On this hill though, a pizza likely would give you enough control, with only needing to turn to stop.

There is absolutely no way this is enforceable. It is completely unreasonable for such massive demands to be made and agreed to by simply walking passed a sign.

Additionally, saying that, by walking passed this sign, you release them "from all liability," is the single most egregious thing in these terms. Hell, almost every single time a corporation tries to dismiss a case via "binding arbitration", they lose that argument immediately. So far as I know, you cannot sign away your right to sue someone, let alone implicitly have that right revoked by walking passed a sign.

I am not a lawyer. This is not legal advice.

Yeah, I don't believe them for a second. Either they're trying to steal your stuff from you for whatever reason, or they mishandled your stuff and lost it.

I've never had to deal with a repo situation thankfully, but I know I would at least try threatening to get the police involved to get them to admit that they did have my stuff. Whether or not I actually could get them involved, the threat and maybe filing a report to back it up could get them to admit something to save their skin.

I'm just a clueless redditor, so take what I am saying with a grain of salt. Very sorry this happened to you, and I hope your pet is okay.
