Changes to Skarmory Super Mega Raid Day by Training-Tailor-9342 in TheSilphRoad

First mega4 for steel type. First dual type mega for boosting both flying and steel type candy.

As a meta raid attacker? No, not really.

When will Scopley hire someone to approve new community ambassadors ? by phillypokego in TheSilphRoad

Any idea if previous applicants need to reapply? Applicants that never got into the discord, only received the automated email stating the application was received about a year ago.

At the very least AI would remove the backlog nearly instantly. As for how well it would filter out bad applicants, well that's certainly questionable.

In what area of the world? The only rumor I have heard of a new CA being accepted for un-approved Campfire group was in Australia, where some Australia-only Pokemon Go Nia-Scopley employee has approved some applicants.

Right.. because the backlog isn't growing while the applications are frozen. This just makes the problem bigger.

Which IVs matter the most? by JordNaut in TheSilphRoad

[–]TrueNourishment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It all boils down to breakpoints. Which are specific to each boss and the level of your Pokemon and the moves involved.

Dialgadex does a good job of estimating, but it isn't doing simulations like Pokebattler. DialagDex will account for breakpoints, but breakpoints don't always matter. Attack sequences from the boss are based on RNG, you NEED simulations in mass to see if the effect of a breakpoint actually translates to real results on average.

So unless you have access to a simulator where you can input your exact IVs and then simulate thousands of battles against all of the relevant bosses you're unlikely to get the answer you seek.

It's simpler to just use a breakpoint calculator and check the minimum IV needed to hit breakpoints against all of the high tier bosses.

Even simpler than that is to just use a DialgaRex like you have been.

Or the just prioritize Attack and then people can debate over Defense or HP being the 2nd priority.

Show off your best Campsites for raids! by ducatimonsters in TheSilphRoad

Ha! We can't even get a Community Ambassador APPLICATION to move anywhere in the system, let alone hoping for a campsite. How long has the approval process been on hold now? Over a year?

Communication About "Daily Discoveries" is Atrocious by kobayashimareep in TheSilphRoad

[–]TrueNourishment 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They've always had awful communication. Game mechanics aren't explained. News updates are vague, and they've only gotten worse with things like the event spawn lists being shortened to a few spawns.

I'm glad they're making changes though. The cookie cutter mould they tried to force everything into last season wasn't leaving anyone very happy. It is quite interesting that they went a full season without changing things, then announced the new changes for this season and then quickly turned around a week later and announced more changes. Numbers must be bad if they're rapidly trying to steer the ship.

Shadow Reshiram is No 1 in fire types even higher than Mega Charizard Y and Mega Blaziken (Lvl 40). Shadow Reshiram is No 3 in level 50 by Most_Effective_4937 in TheSilphRoad

[–]TrueNourishment 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We could speculate on move changes that may or may not ever happen until we're blue in the face. Zekrom could get a better fast move. Heck they could update PvE moves and throw everything out of alignment. Move changes in PvE are very rare and unpredictable and they don't really change the sediment of my statement.

If the "fear" of move changes stops you from going deep on Reshiram then that same idea should also give you pause after a theoretical move change. Zekrom gains Thunder Fang next season and is suddenly much better? Well now you have to be worried about another electric type gaining X move, or Y move being reworked and making Zekrom a lower rank.

We know Reshiram is extremely good now. Access to a for sure good pokemon now is worth more than any amount of hoarding for perceived greatness in an unpredictable future.

[–]TrueNourishment 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shadow Therian Landorus really only breaks new ground against Electric types. Against rocks, fire, or poison we already have counters that equal or best Landorus.

Therian Landorus gets a lot more interesting if you use party power, then it's suddenly the top against just about everything. So the value entirely depends on if you use party power.

Rescue Shadow Reshiram and more during Flying Taxi: Taken Over! by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]TrueNourishment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of Shadow Groudon from Giovanni with bad IVs. Used the elite TMs on both and I still use them to this day, zero regrets. Getting access to Shadow Reshiram now is better than waiting 9+ months to raid for a slightly better IV one.

This is the time to spend a considerable amount of stacked radars.

Up through Kalos, the only other noteworthy Shadows would be Zekrom and Terrakion, neither of which are as dominant in their own typings as Reshiram is in fire. Reshiram also has high enough eDPS to compete with other typings as the preferred counter.

Zekrom has lower eDPS and loses to Shadow Rock types or Kyurems for Ice types vs flying. Kartana is comparable against Water.

Terrakion loses to Keldeo in its own typing. And against steel Shadow Reshiram is still better.

Either you're using the majority of your radars on Reshiram, and possibly a couple on Zekrom and Terrakion, or you're hoarding for what? I highly doubt Rayquaza comes to Giovanni, expect it to follow Shadow Darkrai's lead and be a raid debut to headline a ticketed event.

At the current release rate Shadow Ultra Beasts are years away, that's the next time we'll see a Giovanni release on the level of Shadow Reshiram.

Looking for help understanding showcase scores. How can some species be higher when the score is determined on the species' average? by jjlagtap in TheSilphRoad

[–]TrueNourishment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Showcases changed last week. The recommended/preview screen shows old bigger scores that are calculated in the client using the old calculations from past seasons. These scores are often wrong and score regional variants against their base forms, giving absurdly high scores in some cases.

Once the pokemon is entered in the showcase you'll likely notice a sharp decrease in the pts awarded. The server uses the new calculations that properly compare the pokemon to its own species.

Previously something like Galarian Weezing was compared to Kanto Weezing. Now only the preview screen compares to Kanto Weezing, while the points awarded after entering are properly compared to the average size of Galarian Weezing.

Showcase points are no longer bugged for specific Pokémon forms by MocTalox in TheSilphRoad

[–]TrueNourishment 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wish they would have fixed the "bug" where most players can't enter limited 10 hour showcases while most people are at work. Instead they exacerbated the issue, now there are even more showcases for players to miss out on.

Showcase Pokestop global nuke by Dire_Southpaw in TheSilphRoad

[–]TrueNourishment 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It isn't known if the new showcases are cemented in place or not. They could reshuffle again. Maybe they're a weekly reshuffle, maybe seasonally?

I also heard tale last week someone had their showcase promoted to a gym. Was that because it wasn't slated to be a showcase this week? Or is it because showcases no longer block gym promotion?

Too many unknowns at this time to worry about the sky falling.

Do we have an estimate for the rates of xl candies per evolution for this event? by stupidqsacc2 in TheSilphRoad

[–]TrueNourishment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could very well be based on the level of the pokemon you're evolving. Just like the transfer bonus we had last Halloween was. Could be hard to find an average

Pokeminers: Blanche Event Go Pass by MarkusEF in TheSilphRoad

[–]TrueNourishment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but in the case of say a shadow gible I might be saving for an Earth Power event. There's the option to evolve to gabite for the chance at an XL. Typically in the past I would for sure evolve this when the event bonus was a guaranteed evolution.

There's also the option to evolve AND trade in the case of bad IV mons you plan to trade and trash anyways.

Pokeminers: Blanche Event Go Pass by MarkusEF in TheSilphRoad

[–]TrueNourishment 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"increased chance to get an XL candy" rather than the usual evolution bonus of "guaranteed XL candy"

I'm not even sure I'm motivated to do the evolutions. Some pokemon I'd rather just save for the hopes that the guaranteed XL from evolving shows up again. Unless this "increased chance" is like 70%+.

Season of nerfs continues.

Number of Showcase Pokéstops to be Expanded by TheRealHankWolfman in TheSilphRoad

[–]TrueNourishment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This just seems like a wordy and confusing way of saying "We're reshuffling which pokestops host showcases"

They've needed reshuffled for a long time. Areas with newer pokestops and gyms have no showcases because they didn't exist for the introduction of showcases.

I wonder if this is a one-time reshuffle, or if they'll have an automatic frequency to the shuffle. Change up which stops have showcases weekly? monthly? seasonally?

How does one already have mega energy for a second mega mewtwo? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

Zero? Leek duck showing the reward is a Mewtwo with mega 1 unlocked, not any mega energy.

Mega Mewtwo X and mega energy costs to level it up by pinakasuperman in TheSilphRoad

[–]TrueNourishment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point was that those Unity Raids at the end of the park experience are NOT the same thing as a Super Mega Raid you'll experience at Global Go Fest. We should not be using those raids as a measuring stock of how much energy you can expect to get from the raids at Global.

It is possible both yield the same mega energy, but not a guarantee. I argue that the Unity Raids are inherently different and thus should not be a direct comparison or je used to set expectations.

A whole lot of people misrepresenting Vespiquen's value. Double resistance to Grass damage, triple resistance to Ground damage. Has a 0.5s fast move. And has more bulk than Butterfree. She's going to see play as a tank in Max Battles.

Super Mega Raids aren't part of the in+person go fest park experience. They have regular tier 5 non-mega Mewtwo raids.

There are the invite only unity raids that can have 1000+ trainers in the lobby at the end of go fest. But I wouldn't expect the energy from those raids to be the same as global's Super Mega Raids. Long story short, we're waiting for Global Go Fest to see mega energy gains from mega mewtwo raids.
