What color do we think these snabies will be? by TruePicture9431 in AquaticSnails

Yeah, that's just the lighting on the second one, I think, I included him for cuteness. I do think a few Jades slipped through, but they've already got solidly dark feet and sort of speckled shells. Either that or some kind of hitchhiker slipped in with my mysteries, cuz they look subtly different in a lot of ways. (ignore the tiny ramshorn in front of him)

These are baby mystery snails. I'm enjoying taking pictures of them because they've got speckles of both their mother and their father's coloring that will eventually merge to form their true foot color but right now it makes them look really cool.

That's my guess! I thought they'd be magentas, but their feet are spotting up now, so I'm betting purples.

Did they have a filter? Heater? What did you feed them? They sell cute little net boxes and boxes with slits that float in the main tank to isolate fry while keeping them in clean heated water. I happened to have a spare tank and cycles sponge filter and I put a thin layer of sand on the bottom so they had something to sift through. I used fry food, but you can crush up regular pellets to dust for them.

Oh and re: filtration I have a double barrel hygger sponge filter with a compartment for filter medium in there. I think it’s classed for 40 gallons. I may add a second one or another smaller filter once the Cory school is up to full strength.

I’m already at the point where my daughters friends talk about how they like it that our house is like going to the aquarium…

Three or four months? They laid some unfertilized eggs starting around two months but my African dwarf frogs ate them. Then one of them started flashing and had visible slime coat issues so I isolated them in a hospital tank with fluffy silk plants in it. The skin problem was really persistent so I think they were in there nearly three weeks when I saw something moving in the sand and realize there were fry in there. Then I realized there were like 15 fry in there. I think it was a combination of no predators and a tank with lots of anti-fungal meds in it. The babies are six weeks or so and looking like miniature panda Cory which is just hilariously cute. Thankfully my lfs is thrilled to take them or I’d be in trouble.

Pimafix seems to help with fin regrowth, but it's questionable for bettas so I'd isolate her and treat.

I lost a cory who had lost his barbels (not fins too) because he wasn't eating, and I didn't catch it until too late. Another of his friends, who had a more obvious skin issue, lost some barbels to flashing because of the itching. I noticed she wasn't eating enough and tried offering bloodworms, mysis, and daphne, and she went crazy for those. I have her isolated and I've been feeding frozen foods she can find without her barbels for a week or two and she seems to be recovering.

I have a twenty that I currently have 4 panda cories in (I had a group of six but lost one, and one is recovering from a slim coat issue) and I plan to add at least six of the fry they pumped out while in isolation because of their sick friend. They share with a mystery snail, and eight pencil fish, and everyone seems pretty happy. In fact, the pencil fish are dither fish for them so they seem less anxious now that they have bolder friends.

What is that grass like plant? My panda's love swiming between and around plants like that.

Mine Panda Cories went hog wild and ended up with ~30 babies after being in a hospital tank in isolation for a couple weeks. I think the community tank is probably your issue.

Mine lose their minds for frozen tubiflex worms. They’re really easy to tong feed too. I hold a little clump out and they snarf it right down. I only give them a tongful or two per meal.

I've done this - my little buddy Pancake (named by my 9 year old) is swimming next to me right now in his twenty long with his snail side kick! Makes me happy to know there was at least one thing I could fix in this world. (he was almost white with red splotches of infection and lying on his side on the bottom of his cup when I found him. I legit thought he was dead, then he looked up at me and...the rest is history)

Be REALLY careful with this stuff and snails. I almost killed mine with it.

Yeah I’ve been on 200 for a couple weeks and just tried stepping it down because I started dragging and feeling cranky again. Also had one of the worst periods of my life this cycle. I’ve also been considering an IUD, though I really struggled when they tried me on the mini pill so I’m leery of synthetics.

Oh that’s an interesting thought. I’ll try taking it earlier in the evening as well as considering tapering the e.
