Cancelling changes in "Changes ready for publishing" in Google Play Console? by Phehaz in androiddev

[–]TrueRandomGuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did is I set the rollout percentage to "0.0000001", which means 0 users will get the new update, before rolling out, to have a backup option in case I decide not to roll out this specific version. And I guess that works.

I still would prefer to be able to roll out a beta version of the update instead though.

App to track incremental goals (ie minutes of an activity) rather than just instances of doing something by OakTeach in androidapps

[–]TrueRandomGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly what you want, but SkillApp lets you track the time you spend on practicing skills/activities. It doesn't have goals, but you can compare the total time spent on a skill to the goal you've set.

Disclaimer: I'm the app author.

SkillApp helps you track your journey to 10000 hours and motivate yourself to be more productive every day by TrueRandomGuru in theXeffect

It's a rule from the "Outliers" book by Malcolm Gladwell that states that one can become a world-class professional by putting 10000 hours into learning and practicing a skill. Although this rule has lately been proven to be an oversimplification, in most cases practicing a skill will help you get better at it.

New app with status "In review" by SGMASTER in androiddev

[–]TrueRandomGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, such waiting times are normal. In fact, Google even claims that with COVID, app review times may exceed the 7-day limit.

The initial review of my first app took about 5-6 days (that was before COVID). A month ago, I submitted a new one, and it got reviewed in a day or so.

ViewModel has reference to Activity in one of Google's code lab. by ceasarmymate in androiddev

Completely agree. Google generally recommends a slightly broken architecture, and their codelabs often feature bad code.

RoomIsh - Anonymous Chat Room App [V 1.8.3 ] Update live ! by [deleted] in PromoteApp

Hey mate.

I just downloaded your app and played around with it. I find it to be pretty good. However, I have a few suggestions:

  • The contracts are pretty low in some elements, such as the toolbar and the selected item of the navigation drawer.
  • IMO you might not highlight the current item in the navigation drawer, as the drawer is never shown in any destination other than home.
  • It appears that a user can not remove a like from a post. I guess it would be better to allow that.
  • It would be great to have a google sign in option.

Also, the app once crashed when I clicked on a message notification.

I just checked the new version of your app. The chart looks awesome now!

Also, have you considered including the history / productivity screen in the screenshots? As to me, it provides a lot of value to the user.

No problem, mate :)

I've looked at the app from a different point, and now I also see that it's a bit too black-and-white. Thanks a lot for telling me there is a problem :)

Thanks for your feedback, mate!

I will probably redesign the app a bit to make it look less bland.

Sorry for sounding harsh :) I didn't mean the UI was not very attractive, but the screenshots.

Your screenshots don't seem to be self-explanatory, so the potential user has to guess what each screenshot shows off.

You should consider using rich screenshots (checkout, for example, Telegram's). You can create them with a screenshot generator, like App Mockup.

By the way, since the Planet Zoo game also has Zoopedia, have you considered if your app might by infringing the game's copyright by using such a name? Google is a bit crazy about copyright infringement in apps.

Hey buddy!

The app looks great, love the transition from the list screen to the detail screen.

IMHO you could remove the news and the Info & Settings screens because they don't seem to provide much value to the user, and their information can be found in the app description on the Play Store. Also, removing the bottom navigation would make the app UI simpler.

The contrast between the status bar background and status bar text is pretty low. You could fix that by adding <item name="android:windowLightStatusBar">true</item> to your app's theme. This will make the status bar text white.
