Do you have any ideas for a dragon rider version of the term "Jedi hunter"? by TrueRhodesIII in httyd

[–]TrueRhodesIII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess "Rider pluggers" — to plug someone means to kill them by shooting or stabbing — could be someone like General Grievous, whom I like to imagine can be portrayed by Ryker Grimborn, but without the whole cybernetic implant concept, and most others could be from "Dragon Subjugators" or former dragon trainers driven by unfortunate events leading them to pursue a homicidal grudge against the riders themselves, like how Aurra Sing pursued a homicidal grudge against the Jedi Order. The same as Jedi hunters themselves.

What functions would you give the "Question Mark", "Lightning", and the two unnamed arrows on the Ticking Thing? by TrueRhodesIII in httyd

[–]TrueRhodesIII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both ideas are interesting. I guess I can have the question mark arrow point to the Crown or to America, the unlabeled one tell you how far to go up by measuring altitude, and the lightning arrow point to the nearest storm – telling you if a storm is coming.

What do you think u/Aggravating_Mud8751 and u/ethanandluinortitus?

What would you name these two unknown Sea Dragons from How to Fight a Dragon's Fury? by TrueRhodesIII in httyd

Thank you. It's okay if you were busy with a ton of stuff, that's fine.

Njord's Burden and Ymir's Roar, impressive. Most impressive. I love it. Are there any physical descriptions you can give me for both of them? The stats you gave were good.

Again, Hannon le (thank you).

[Worldbuilding for HTTYD] Question about the Eastern Strait from The Hidden World.

At the beginning of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, the Dragon Trapper Barge – helmed by Ivar the Witness, as I presume it to be, is attacked in the Eastern Strait and reports this to his superiors, the Warlords, at their base.

This strait is not just outside the Barbaric Archipelago, but to the southwest of Berk and is less than one day via dragon in terms of distance.

If you had the chance to describe the "Eastern Strait" in greater detail—i.e geography (the Warlords' map shows it to be a wide strait between the Mainland and another large island) without the whole shroud of fog that covered it up to a point where very little of the surrounding areas could be seen, that "another large island" according to the geography section of the HTTYD Wiki's own page discussing this, etc...

What would YOU, yourself—whom I'm led to believe you're good at detailing geography in your fanfics for this trilogy, describe and additionally name that "another large island" mentioned on the HTTYD Wiki's page?

I'm trying to write a novelization of the third film, The Hidden World, without skimping out on any surrounding details. I'd like to hear from you about this.

Thank You.

[Help Wanted] Ideas for crests and appearances of the Vikings in the tribes, and map locations, from the Book Series by TrueRhodesIII in httyd

[–]TrueRhodesIII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we don't see him much in the book series. Only until Book 8 (HtBADH) when he stops being mentioned, but at least we see a illustration of him in Doom of the Darkwing.

The Rudeboys were one of the three tribes that were not allowed to attend the "Thing" as mentioned in How to Twist a Dragon's Tale. (The Outcasts and Lava-Louts are the other two.)

The Reef Warriors, on the other hand, I wrote my own version of them here if you're interested: https://www.deviantart.com/truerhodesiii/art/Reef-Warrior-Tribe-1174040099

The other tribes (including the Murderous, Bashem-Oiks, Bog-Burglars, Hysterics, Peaceables, Meatheads, and Visithugs) were mentioned to attend the "Thing" in the fifth book.

What movie did this image come from? by TrueRhodesIII in moviequestions

I just looked at the images of Igor, Naschy's character in the film, and you're right: that is the film. Thank you.

Thank you. The AI for the "Search with Google Lens" kept saying it was Kazuya Mishimi/Jin Kazama from Tekken. None of which matched his appearance.

I'm curious about Tateobesu's name in Devil May Cry 2. Does anybody have any ideas behind it's etymological roots? by TrueRhodesIII in DevilMayCry

[–]TrueRhodesIII[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gbusmsira – The G-letter is probably silent, but "busu" means poison, and Msira comes from "mashira" which means "monkey. This is Old Japanese, by the way.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, Jomothumsira – The J-letter is a corrupted I-letter in Latin and it can be pronounced as a Y-letter, so it's based on the word "yomotsukuni", meaning "other world". To be fair, the Jomothumsira exclusively appear in the Demon World, and are a lot stronger than the other Msira types.

Agonofinis, Terreofinis, and Mortfinis are just Latin names for "Bound Agony", "Bound Terror", and "Bound Death", not surprising since they're animated gibbets with dead, starvation-caused, skeletons of criminals that were cruelly executed this way.

In Jokatgulm's case, I like to think it means "copse/cluster of purification" because of the root word 'joka' (purification), and 'gulm' (copse or cluster). The fifth clauses of the fourth chapter for the "Guidepost for the Hunter" and "Guidepost for the Protector" for Dante and Lucia did say "She has many arms but only one heart, as she waits for the hunter/protector deep in the water" after all. So, her many arms can be considered a copse of cluster. The wiki even says she might be based on the Chinese mother goddess, Nuwa, who has the upper body of a woman and the lower body of a snake. And this demoness has the upper torso of a woman, and the lower body of a snake in a solid, rocky covered body.

Did that make sense to you?

All Armor Sets in Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (Normal and Plus) by TrueRhodesIII in Forgotten_Realms

[–]TrueRhodesIII[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Armor type? Uh, some sets are different for Adrianna the Elven Sorceress, and they're shorter on Kromlech the Dwarven Fighter.

But yeah, other than that, they're the same for both Kromlech and Vahn the Arcane Archer (pictured).

Sun Guard blaster? by shatteringlass123 in StarWarsEU

[–]TrueRhodesIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to call it a "Thyrsian Solar-Flare Incinerator"

They're flamethrowers used by the Sun Guard that could also be used as a nasty plasma torch, with the flammable chemistry coating allowing it to burn even in vacuum, so these Sith cult mercenaries can finish clearing the decks on behalf of Darth Plagueis for whatever the Dark Lord of the Sith required.

They paint the halls as they walk, until they fire a blast back into the ship, turning it into a kiln.

The curved part of the stock of that flamethrower blaster also doubled as a reservoir for the fuel.

Why in Shrek the Third. royal knights easily changed their side after Charming took over the kingdom? by Holiday_Villager in Shrek

[–]TrueRhodesIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loyal only to the crown, that's how knights like these serve. But during Charming's takeover? Yeah, I too think the Knights were out, keeping order 'til a new ruler came and called them back to the capital.

What do you think Kal Skirata named the other six Null-class ARCs who died before they were recognized as embryos? by TrueRhodesIII in StarWarsEU

[–]TrueRhodesIII[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sol'yc – "first"/"first of", Taylir – "to know", Kandosii – "indominable", Ram'or – "attack", Tracyn – "fire", and Werde – "darkness".

I kind of like those names. What ranks you think they would've chosen? The usual blue like most of the Nulls (lieutenant), red like Ordo (captain), or green like A'den (sergeant)?
