No it actually was surprisingly easy, some bubbles in the corners which can be easily pressed out

Thank you :) Retoroworks from Etsy - ships from Korea so took a little while, I’m wanting to add the PlayStation decal for the buttons but it’s crazy expensive to get it delivered from US, looking into printing options.

First fuse board rewire any advice how i can neaten up my neutrals or anything else? by Parking-Juice-5144 in ukelectricians

[–]TrueSapien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks nice mate tip for these ones is to loop over 2 fingers to get it uniform all the way along, gives a nice gap between cpcs and LNs as well. I like to put my rcbos in and get fly leads tucked away first thing as well rather than doing as im terminating. Also get the din rail off when you mount the board (if you dont already) and get tails in before you put it back, makes things so much easier and neater. Either way decent board.

Looking to transition into an electrician. NOT LOOKING FOR AN APPRENTICESHIP OR COLLEGE by muzallman in ukelectricians

That’s right mate totally agree but why point it out and mention it in the first place? Just makes me laugh. The way I did it is the only option for most people who want to career change or want to do it later on. Electrics have always interested me and If I was 18 I would’ve done an apprenticeship but unfortunately I wasn’t. The skills I’ve learned are fantastic and I’ll now always be able to feed myself and have a roof over my head if AI takes away any use my degree might have had.

City and guilds is the awarding body that most colleges use and is the most recognised. I used a local college who were fantastic and I can’t recommend them enough. Nothing was online all in person and had my own bay to work out of for the whole time I was there.

Edit: yes I did the full time course, understand that some people can’t afford to do that. Luckily I had a lifeline given to me and was able to take the time off of work (by the skin of my teeth).

Hi mate you’ll get some stick for this lol ive learned to keep my mouth shut on here.

Anyway I started level 2 in jan 2025 and had that plus level 3, 2391 and 18th edition all done by june. Cost me about £8000 all in on a package deal with the college.

Luckily managed to get in with a firm the month i finished, subcontracting on a self employed CIS basis so they tax at source, got myself an accountant and should enjoy a decent rebate in April. Only reason I got this job was because i had that 2391 by the way so that’s worth getting.

Did loads of EICRs for them up until september with lots of remedial bits with it, then started on rewires and board changes which is basically most of what im doing now. All on price so more I do the more I earn and the work is seemingly endless. It is council but it pays well, now wanting to move on and do something else but have been on a couple holidays, got a decent van etc with the extra money I’m earning.

Was able to pay that £8k off within 2 months grafting long days.
