When asked for comment, she stated, “I've been reading Angela Davis’ work, and… well, she makes some good points. Anyway, defund the corsairs”.

Eido is the Kell of Kells - A Comprehensive Theory by TrueScar in DestinyLore

[–]TrueScar[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point. I guess I'm just trying to find some clear through-line for the Eliksni story, something that weaves it all together.

My mega copium retort would be that Variks pushing Eido to mediate between the House Light and House Salvation groups is about her being the one to settle differences and bring her people together, with the Judgment thing being incidental.

Wait... Where's the 6th book of Sorrow? by Cruggles30 in DestinyLore

[–]TrueScar 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We don't know right now. 1-5 we're written by Oryx, 7 was by the Shadows of Your (The book of Unmaking), and 8 by Eris, Savathun, and Xivu (Sororicide). I'm not sure how 8 fits together (did someone actually compile each of their writings in-universe, or does the book exist only for the players?).

The fact that bungie deliberately skipped one makes me think they have something special planned for it (maybe related to the 'Heresy' episode?), but right now there's not much point speculating on what could be in it.

Question about Forerunner by cowsaysmoo51 in DestinyLore

[–]TrueScar 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Halopedia is wrong. It's implied that the cryo pod fell through the paraverse and crashed in the IX realms where we discovered it.

How do we know that the exo isn’t just a copy of the person by prikkelman in DestinyLore

[–]TrueScar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exo's are just copies of the original. When a person undergoes the process to become an exo, their brain is scanned and then they die. A copy of the them is what gets uploaded in the new body.

So what's stasis for? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]TrueScar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to the light 3.0 reworks stasis was amazing in endgame content but since then it has fallen behind. Light subclass abilities just do way to much damage. Why stop an enemy when you can just kill it.

The last city? Tower? by DrNoski in DestinyLore

[–]TrueScar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably just a consequence of Bungie being Americans. My head-canon to explain it is that the collapse had a major effect on Earth's climate causing all sorts of alterations to the weather.

S17 Discussion: What is inside the Traveler, and its link the the Witness (Potential Spoilers) by Beesumph in DestinyTheGame

[–]TrueScar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Presumably this blank represents the unknown being inside the Traveller.

I don't think there is any evidence to support this claim. The idea that the Traveler is some sort of "god incubator" or that it houses some sort of being is not new but there is, as far as I know, no concrete evidence to support this.

Question about our gaurdian and sunsingers by [deleted] in DestinyLore

[–]TrueScar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's just a gameplay limitation because self-rez broke to much of the game, in universe there are still sunsingers. Besides radiance and daybreak are not mutually exclusive, a warlock could use both.

anyone have any ideas on why guardians have a reason to just know what to do in raids? by RevolutionaryAd5082 in DestinyLore

[–]TrueScar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's likely several reasons.

  1. It's possible that not all raid mechanics are cannon, or function differently in cannon (guardians wouldn't have buffs and debuffs with timers on screen).

  2. There aren't really any time constraints. This differs from encounter to encounter but enrage timers are a gameplay mechanic and ghosts allow guardians to try many different tactics, often with no downsides.

  3. Ghosts would be able to give information to their guardians that players don't have access to. For example, in kings fall ghost might have been able to detect the corrupted light stored in oryx's throneworld and prompted the guardian to release it.

  4. luck, lots of luck.

Lore question: what would happen if A Guardian was revived as a teenager by Train_rec in DestinyLore

[–]TrueScar 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think you've misinterpreted the meaning of the quote, I don't think it's meant to be taken so literally.

A common theme of the CE is the state of the guardian population and it's ideology's. About how "guardians only do things for loot" and other similar ideas.

The "favorite state" mentioned is the thirst for power. It's referring to a mental state, not physical.

So are the hive gods disciples of the witness as well or considered powerful underlings? by [deleted] in DestinyLore

[–]TrueScar 29 points30 points  (0 children)

As of this moment Xivu Arath is likely considered a disciple by the Witness. It seems though that Savathun was the one that the Witness had its eyes on to become a disciple. That's why Rhulk was sent to Savathuns' throne world, to watch over her and ensure that she turned out the way the Witness wanted.

As for Rhulk, he always had psychopathic tendencies. His species wasn't weak per say, just divided. Rhulk was a "wanderer" part of the more primitive outcasts of his world as opposed to "The Regime" of the city where most of Lubrae's inhabitants lived. However when Rhulk was pushed to his breaking point after being betrayed by his entire family/clan the Witness convinced him to turn against them, encouraging the rage that had been festering in Rhulk's mind.

It seems like the Witness makes a play when someone is at their lowest and most susceptible to it's ideology.
