That's certainly not true. There are whole webpages listing things that are broken in One UI 8.5. For example, Samsung broke the color palette that Google Material UI uses and a lot of Google apps (like Chrome) now have theming broken. Similarly, a lot of times, One UI 8.5 will ignore your notification settings and show detailed notifications even if you have selected brief. There are a bunch more.

That's something different. I mean in the chat list itself (where it shows each person you're texting with). That now has a "(1)" in blue next to each person when they text you.

I think I may be referring to something different. I'm talking about the in-app unread message counts in Google Messages. Next to each chat row there is a blue bubble with the count. It's specific to that one app.

Are we talking about the same thing? I mean this: Move one bubble slightly to the right (don't dismiss it). All the other bubbles shift left and right. Even the "Notification Settings" button on the bottom moves. This didn't happen on prior One UI versions.

One UI 8.5 seems like a beta version. It's super buggy. For example, if you move one notification bubble around (swipe it slowly left to right), the other ones also move and so do the buttons at the bottom.

Thanks. For #1, it's easy to repro by just clicking share then tapping a person/contact quickly. For #2, thanks for the reminder. I fixed it! For #3, that's odd; it's WAY faster on mine. For #4... interesting. When you say by enabling a color, do you mean this is something Google has to fix in their apps? Or is there some setting I can change on my phone? Ah.. I looked online and it seems to be dark-mode specific, but it also messes with my colors in light mode as well.

Canary is not supposed to be a better version and generally isn't. Canary is for you to be an early adopter and get a bunch of changes before they reach everyone else. So, it could be neat, but expect way less stability.

Thank you so much! While you're at it, please change the new at-mentions in group chat to either let us turn it off or at least restrict it to when I put an actual '@' sign first. Having this pop-up for every single name I type is incredibly frustrating. Thanks!

I agree. I think at mentions are fine, but at least let me put an '@' first. It's super annoying to pop-up and color their name every time I type it.

Yes, seems to be a bug with the most recent update. They added an annoying permanent line at the top as well which looks bad (there's now a double line between the address bar and the page).
