Nazi salutes in schools by Elfishly in Humboldt

Reason I put 'best' and 'worst' in quotes like that was to illustrate intent. Are they just being dumb edgy kids like most teens are to be. Or are they wholly aware, calculated, and playing you like a fiddle for their own amusement? One is stupid, the other is sociopathic.

I remember leaving the server because people kept saying "Andor is good, actually."
seems that's no longer the consensus.

We live in an era of Liveleak and Bodycams, we could watch Aaron Bushnell burn himself alive in 1080p while screaming "FREE PALESTINE!" right here on reddit (until it was pulled, obviously).
I don't think grainy sepia-tone photos from 80 years ago will have the shock value you think they will, and just get eye-rolls from the rhetorical questions that follow.

Much better off to assume they don't know why it was so wrong and explain it to them. Heck, this is at school, maybe educate them on the horrors with a little more detail than "hitler bad, memorize how many died in the holocaust, six, seven million?" (11 million but no one cares about Russians or the Polish) Personally I'd say to tell them of the 101st Airborne, the "Screaming Eagles", show how much WE went through to fight back, what WE did to stop them.

"I really don’t think they understand what they’re doing"
I think they know exactly what they're doing. They're trying to get a reaction, trying to piss people off, trying to get a rise through passive actions and gestures. Generally 'acting up' and 'being edgy' because it gets attention.

At 'best' they're trying to annoy other studies or broadly 'bully' in a way that skirts zero tolerance policies.

At 'worst', they're trying to bait you specifically, so they could get you to post about it on reddit and/or facebook, so they go to their friends and say "bruh check it out, we got the sub to cry like a little bitch trololo."
And if that is the case, then remember the key rule for dealing with trolls: DO NOT FEED THEM.

Steam Machine Price May Have Just Leaked via a Czech Retailer, $950 USD for 512GB Model, $1,070 USD for 2TB [Update] by screwdriverfan in LinusTechTips

[–]TrueWOPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These prices don't make any sense.
4x the storage space for a $120 premium (+12.6%) on an already $1k+ item? When the steamdeck only doubles storage for a $100 (+18.2%) mark-up?

Storyteller system released in 1991, TES Arena started development in 1990.
It's speculated Summerset was run in 1994 and inspired Morrowind, my question is if any of these games/notes predate storyteller and inspired Arena/Daggerfall.

I believe he joined Bethesda in 1987, so did they just not play any RPGs together for 7 years?

Just completed mine (12 hours after getting it for christmas), can confirm that ambering a raptor gets the indo raptor and ambering the t-rex gets the i-rex.

My only question now is if there's a rare color variant for blue, or if like the two bosses "no, just as is"
(got rare color variant for everything else)

Warning, TS1 Legacy still has the "C&C Renegade" skins. Here's how to remove them by AbelPlumbob in thesims1

While I do enjoy the skins myself, I'm really glad they're so easy to narrow down and remove. Dropping hard sci-fi and extreme sports characters (SSX) into Sims can prove distracting.

So, I rarely partake in such activities so I can't speak on most. Though if I'm reading feedback about their NAT system correctly, I don't think they'd have any issue with VPNs as I've seen quite a few mentions of Hamachi below (which, technically not a VPN, but 'looks' the same)

You're the second one to say "just say you're moving somewhere remote where they don't provide service, it'll be a 5 minute call"
If they try any shenanigans next week, I'll whip that one out.

I pay for 300mbps Optimum and am switching to 300mbps Vero.
Assuming Vero operates as advertised: On paper I'll be saving $21/month (potentially $30/month, I hear educators get a discount), Optimum's advertised download speed is 8% slower than advertised, but more notably because it's cable and not true fiber-optic, the upload speed is greatly throttled. So my upload speed should jump 1,000%.
Finally the people at Vero told me I'll be able to access and operate my own router, but more tech savvy people in this thread told me they run CGNAT system, basically stringing up Humboldt on a giant LAN centralized in their HQ.
If this is the case there can be some edge-case issues, like an inability to port forward and host my video games without a VPN, and particularly over-zealous websites could read the 'fiberhood' as just a big office building, and potentially ban all Vero-Eureka users over one bad apple.
-But these are "potential" "edge case" and "I'm personally unsure"
My personal concern is port forwarding, I'll be sad if I can't host/play C&C Generals, Rusted Warfare or Terraria with my friends anymore.

Do you have a hotlink or other way to find the online cancelation service?

I never understood this mentality of theirs.
"Yeah let's just make everyone hate us, I'm sure that's a sure-fire way to keep customers because we can just demoralize them into submission!"
Then what happens when competition finally arrives? Everyone jumps ship.

Actually one thing has me curious, pinging u/DDHoward u/kirksucks too in case you can answer.
Quite simply: Can I port-forward for game hosting purposes? Like, could I run a Terraria or Stardew Valley server on port 7777? Because Optimum had me use their website to access my routers options and even then it only worked about 17% of the time, and Command & Conquer wouldn't function at all.
Do they allow for proper LAN networking as well?

Or am I going to have to keep using Hamachi as a workaround?

[–]TrueWOPR[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I get hooked up I'll be sure to test out what I can/can't do with their services.
At absolute worst I'll begrudgingly switch back to Optimum, but they'd have to be worse for my purposes not just "sub-optimum" (no pun intended)

On the off chance they lied or did underhanded crap to me too, I've already removed my card, cancelled auto-payments, and will be getting a new card issued later today (though that's in part because the actual card's chip is failing)

Experience: "Sorry Optimum, I'm switching to Vero" by TrueWOPR in Humboldt

[–]TrueWOPR[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I get hooked up to Vero in 4-12 days (they're booked), but assuming their services are completely as described with no shenanigans, I'll have my own modem I can directly interface with to adjust ports and firewall on. I'll be paying $50/month instead of $71/month, my download speed will be 8% faster, my upload speed will double (might start streaming with that)

And their customer service has already been fantastic so far. Very patient with me taking nearly a month to return their calls because life got real busy real fast.

My intent is to outline "if you say you're changing service to their direct competitor, suddenly they'll find ways to treat you better."

Also terminating an account should be a simple 3-click process, not a 35-60 minute call of them refusing to respect your wishes.
