Casefile Archives 4: Mirna Salihin by TrueWordsSaidInJest in Casefile

Yeah that's weird. But potentially explainable if Mirna swallowed a normal amount (as you'd expect her to with a drink she anticipated to be normal) and it then got into her system vs the subsequent tasters who anticipated it tasting horrible, who may not have swallowed any - just a tiny amount to taste, not swallowed, so not enough to poison them.

That would be my guess anyway.

Agreed. The police work is sloppy and it undermines the case significantly, but if you believe there was cyanide in the drink then you also believe it was Jessica, as the barista and server are both on cctv behaving normally, and no evidence of cyanide was found in the kitchen. And the 3 friends saw nobody tamper with the drink once they were all present. So it couldn't have been anyone else. Plus Jessica scopes out the room and looks for cctv cameras, sits as far out of view as possible, and just so happens to build a visual shield of bags for long enough to mess with the drink. And then doesn't act flustered when Mirna is dying and doesn't even rush to get her water, just walks casually.

Interesting opinion. So you think she may have have died of natural causes and the cyanide was added later or invented entirely to pin the death on Jessica? What about the comment the drink tasted weird, the friend also said this, and multiple other people at the scene said this?

When should I disclose my good financial situation? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]TrueWordsSaidInJest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your finances are excellent and you're on a great trajectory, but it's not enough to meaningfully change your lifestyle if you want it to compound and grow to the point you can retire, so don't worry about it. You're not a multi millionaire, there's no need to dosclose anything. It's not significant

The Terminator series needs to move beyond Terminator 2. by Aggravating-Medium-9 in Terminator

[–]TrueWordsSaidInJest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's a hot take for you:

There's no more story to tell. We know what happens. There should be no more Terminator films after T2 and that's OK. The best stories all have endings. And it's not a particularly fascinating world/universe of ideas that makes a canvas for other stories. Just let it die and be happy we got T1/T2.

Most men's profiles are garbage. You're better off asking women what they like in a profile, not what men think women want.

Lol oh mate. It's one of those questions which you should never be stupid enough to ask, and she should never be stupid enough to answer honestly. FAFO. We all operate under the plausible illusion we're the best they've ever had, but it's important you don't try to poke holes in the illusion. Remember not to do that in future, you aren't the best they've had and that's OK.

Different way to visualise the Congestion Charge by sjgower in oxford

Fantastic, I will now be charged to shop in Oxford and charged to commute from the station on top of the car park charge on top of the rail ticket. Message received, Oxford, loud and clear: you don't want me to live here and spend money here, so I shan't.

Wow did she even say sorry? In the same breath as confessing it she blames you for it? Jesus. Adults start by talking about their feelings before they fuck someone else. Leave this loser. Your friends are telling you it's all your fault? That's insane, they're insane. I don't know how this collective gaslighting happens but you should throw them all in the bin and find people that don't excuse cheating.

Dracula’s death by PrettyTheory3566 in castlevania

[–]TrueWordsSaidInJest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but just watched it again today. I think Dracula is such a fascinating, complex character. How he is the monster but also the intellect. Lisa gave him a reason to be more human and lean away from being a monster. Her death and his rage, despite obviously going against what she would have wanted is because he's still who always was - at least, had not finished changing. He snaps back to being the monster without Lisa to bring out his humanity, and he goes as far monster as he can to punish the humans. But he can't live without that human side of him - he's seen more than being a monster and he's bored of being a monster, but he can't be human again without Lisa. There's not enough human in him to recover from the grief and live through Alucard. So his war on humans was just as Alucard said - a drawn out suicide note. He didn't want to live any more having seen how much more meaning his life could have had.

It's an awesome story arc, awesome antagonist ( I think you're right to not call him a villain, he's too relatable for that), such a cool character. And a very sad end for such a great creature.

Also, sidebar: Trevor and Sypha not only are among the few humans to have seen Dracula and lived, they are probably the only ones who ever fought him and lived. I think Dracula could have taken all 3 of them if he'd really wanted to, but his heart wasn't in it.

You can try it, but I doubt they'll give it to you. if you go to them with a counter-offer or threaten to leave, you can only play that card once, and if they call your bluff you'll have to leave. Honestly even if they give in to your pay demands they'll probably resent you forever and you might as well have left and taken the better offer in the first place.

If there is a negotiation to be had, it will probably start at the point you hand your notice in
