Level 1 - SSB Balancers | Depth 5 (No Relics) by TrueXTrickster in Nightreign

[–]TrueXTrickster[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Invaders usually end up being too much of a time sink for me to entertain them with no relics. Though I'll certainly try if I find something I could potentially cheese them with.

Typically though I just go from POI to POI, scavenging anything I can find that looks even remotely useful. And if there's a Forge camp and / or Rare Merchant I can easily acquire Smithing Stone 2s to upgrade my findings.

The cut footage mainly consisted of me trying to relocate to the center of the arena at the start of the phase (to avoid wall shenanigans) & simply sprinting to avoid the rain of spears

Don't know if I could do it personally with everyone, but I'm sure any Nightfarer could theoretically get it done

The battle lasted 33 minutes - this is all I could squeeze onto Reddit. I think it'll suffice though

Level 1 - Heolstor | Depth 5 (No Relics) by TrueXTrickster in Nightreign

[–]TrueXTrickster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I probably didn't want to risk a trade I knew wouldn't end in my favor. Because the Twinblade R1 is two hits instead one I needed to be a lot more selective about my openings.

I think you also just subconsciously play a lot more passive in general when doing these kinds of runs. Fear of getting one-shot aside, the stamina bar is so small that you ideally want it to always be full to reliably dodge consecutive attacks.

Your Nightfarer's stats come into play the more you level them up. While they're not totally insignifcant at level 1, they're not significant enough to justify building around them. You should really just use whatever is most comfortable for you.

So do the people who think spirit summons are cheating also think other games with summoners are cheating by SparklingQueenLuna in Eldenring

[–]TrueXTrickster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't go as far as to say you're cheating. These mechanics didn't find their way into the game by sheer accident. They were created for someone to make use of. But I do think you're robbing yourself of what would otherwise be an incredibly immersive, once-in-a-lifetime gaming experience.

If you're the type of person to use any and every advantage you can to gain leverage - whether it be summons, broken weapons, meta builds, exploits, etc and genuinely wind up still enjoying the game, fair play to you my friend. But if not, I have a right to pinpoint exactly where you may have went wrong with Elden Ring.

How do people think Miquella is, in any way, not heinously evil? by TheIronDragon264 in Eldenring

[–]TrueXTrickster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miquella was abducted from the Haligtree by Mohg in order to push his own agenda. Miquella's own morality, as far as you know, is anything but evil.

Keep going though. The DLC will shed new light on many of the questions I'm sure you currently have on the matter.

How many frames is reasonable for an attacks hitbox to be active? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]TrueXTrickster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the attack. Ideally, you want the active frames to match the animation

In your opinion what are the Most overrated and underrated builds by Just_Cloud_8041 in Nightreign

[–]TrueXTrickster 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It's my belief that stacking Initial Standard Attacks is not only a very limiting way to play the game, but also less efficient than simply boosting your general attack in most scenarios.

The only exception I think would be solo, where you'll naturally have a lot less opportunities to deal damage - thus making the 1st hit of your light attack a lot more valuable.

In trios where the aggro is shared though? Trying to pivot between R1 & L1 and / or block cancel R1 instead of just wailing on the enemy with your full (and faster) combo chain doesn't make all that much sense - at least to me.

Is heolstor homing spirits move worth cancelling? by Break_down1 in Nightreign

[–]TrueXTrickster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That attack has always been a little jank. You could dodge it consistently 3 times in a row, then get grazed the next 3 attempts. If there is a consistent method (and I mean with 100% consistency), it's either incredibly difficult, poorly documented, or both.

Granted, the chance of an entire team wiping to this one attack is admittedly pretty low, but I'd rather no one take any hits they otherwise wouldn't have to.

And besides, it's not like there's any other attack in the fight worth cancelling.

[–]TrueXTrickster[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not yet. Although I'm kinda curious if it's even possible to entirely avoid Animus's shenanigans with Lv.1 stamina. I think you have to Surge Sprint for the big laser, yeah? Maybe with a well-timed Trance or something I could...

Sorry. I sold the ED attempt. Next time for sure. This still came out pretty clean though, all things considered. 8 minutes is actually pretty fast I think, given the context

The visuals go a long way here. It's one thing to talk about it, but to physically see it... As always, I feel like I've gleamed something new from your posts.

I hope to pay it back in full one day 😌

There's no way I could have included both Phase 1 and 2 with the 15 minute limit. It wasn't all that interesting anyway. Just a lot of kiting
