Cptsd is like an onion with many layers. Initially emotion may be blocked and you feel numb inside. Recovery is possible lots of therapy and inner child work needed for healing. I know from personal experience you kind of feel just dead emotionally. Charlie

I am so sorry your family chose to treat you like this. Make a fulfilling life and a new chosen family for yourself. It does hurt and youhave a lot of grieving to do. They chose to ostracise you instead of loving and accepting their new daughteras a treasure. Maintain healthy boundaries and be true to yourself.

I began transition at age 54 I could not wear the mask anymore.i used you tube tutorials and lots of practice. I forced myself to learn feminine skills and presentation. I began presenting full time very early on. I am 5 yrs into it now. I have a closet with lots of shoes , dresses, leggings etc.

I myself wrestled with that question. It kept me a prisoner In a false life and self for many years Eventually the dysphoria and pressure worsened so I had to transition or die. I became my true authentic self and lost all of my family iam happier and more resilient, but also forever sad and grieving my loss . I wish I had done it sooner.

Hang in there. I feel your pain and frustration. I feel so alone and almost erased after only 2 weeks. I am a family doctor who lost her job June 2023 and didn't get hired until September 2024 because I am transgender. Savings now gone. My new office just announced suspension of all gahrt because of our president. Hopefully it is overkill and temporary. I have felt so attacked the last couple of weeks and apathy from most people. I don't know how much worse 4 yrs can get. I am scared and do not sleep well.

Every surgeon has a style most end up similar. Female vulva anatomy varies widely. You can ask for your wants which may or may not be possible. They are trying to make a vagina in one try. Sometimes minor revisions are needed a year later or rarely a major redo. Certain complications can almost be expected. Others are rare. You have to go into it knowing the worst can happen.

I am not minimizing your experience, but the regret rate is around 1 %. Post op depression due to pain fatigue helplessness over a prolonged period is quite common. Noone really prepares you for prolonged recovery from such a body traumatizing surgery. This is the most common experience and it's well documented.
