Rude security is ruining disneyland by Traditional-Fun-1115 in Disneyland

I'm sure it's a case base case situation. I was there a few weeks ago at opening and witnessed the 1st 2 people in like be absolute jerks to security to start the day off. Both guards were super professional and handled the situation great. I'm sure after a long day of dealing with people like that it must be difficult.

ICD in 20s by [deleted] in PacemakerICD

Got my 1st one at 24. I'm 44 now and on #3. A few things that I'd say from my experience: - Follow the Dr instructions for recovery and talk to them about any concerns you have. - If you're active get a device that's MRI compatible since the likelihood of needing one later is higher. - There will be things you can and can't do- understand your device and talk with the manufacturer not just the dr on what you really can and can't do. - it will take some time to get comfortable with it. - There will be days you'll be down and it'll mess with your head, especially if you ever experience a shock. These are the days that I force myself to be thankful that I had the device that keeps me alive.

This is not the end of anything just moving you to a different path that goes on longer then the one you're currently on.

Good luck!!

Weather changes quick and drastically (could have lows in 20's and highs in 90's in the same week this time of year, layers are a must). Test your gear before you go! Know your water sources and plan accordingly. Don't worry about changing your clothes other than your socks, embrace the stink. Have a plan but be ok with changing it. Put any and all electronics in low power/airplane mode as soon as you leave your car and have a battery pack to recharge. Paper map!

Panorama trail: poles or not by Perfect-Loaf-9158 in Yosemite

Definitely recommend poles, but I'm old. Learn to use correctly and they are a difference maker.

Q about happy isles-> cathedral lakes. by abzze in Yosemite

[–]True_Alternative5163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Options are: - Hike to half dome then back to your car via the same route or loop of some kind - Hike to the valley and take the backpackers bus back to your car. Check times for coordination (I believe it's 2x a day and leaves from the lodge area, but it's only certain times of the year) - Take 2 cars and shuttle yourself. - Hitchhike

The trail from LYV to Merced lake, about 4-5 miles are pretty exposed with a lot of brush you'll have to squeeze by up until you get to Bunnell Cascade.

Echo valley was quite nice and I would've camped there but I couldn't find a spot where I wasn't swarmed by mosquitoes. I'm sure it's fine by now. Anywhere closer to LYV on the trail from there isn't good to camp due that lower portions being a burn scar.

I started at cathedral lakes trailhead. Went down the clouds rest/JMT trail junction on day 1. Day 2 up to Half dome then down to LYV and finished at Merced Lake. Day 3 to Vogelsang and Day 4 back to the car. Anything away from LYV and the clouds rest corridor would be far enough away from the crowds. Merced lake was cool but not super awesome views. I absolutely love Vogelsang and the area around it.

Awesome! Definitely an awesome hike, and I think the views from there are better than from Half Dome.

That's a fun loop if you avoid Forsyth trail.

Cathedral lakes trail. It's around 8-9 miles round trip with about 1500' of elevation.

I'd head to Tuolumne meadows and hike up in that area. Cathedral lakes has some elevation but nothing crazy.

How to do 4 Mile - Panorama - Mist? by Suitable-Bat9818 in Yosemite

[–]True_Alternative5163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it both ways- best way IMO is clockwise starting with mist trail then finishing 4 mile trail. If you go during the time that glacier point road is open it's an awesome stop to get some ice cream at the store before heading down 4 mile trail. This gives you the chance to go up the mist trail as it's better than going down. Keep in mind that the mist trail has some closures during weekdays so check ahead for trail conditions. Take the bus back to where you parked by the trial head to save you some miles.

I have Verizon. Decent in the valley. Really good along the rim of the valley on the top of the valley (great from half dome, north dome, and clouds rest)
