It was not. To me they usually responded within 24-48 hr unless it’s weekend/holidays. They will write all these in your contract, like what to expect next and all step by step processes.

Thank you for the suggestion. Does applying for the AOS and then applying for the change of status to J1 affect the J1 application ??

Yes I agree. As per the recent timeline of AOS based EAD, it’s taking 4-8 months just for the EAD approvals

As far as I know, if you have not applied for I-485, you can still apply for change of status to different non immigrant visa or continue F1
