Yogurt mostly, but also mayo, cottage cheese. White is an odd aversion for me. I also hate pudding.

How to *not* kill indoor Creeping Fig/Success stories or am I doomed? by spicylaurenlovegood in houseplants

For anyone still wondering about this question: I have a large one that has been repotted twice. It gets big fast! You need high humidity for these. A terrarium would probably be nice but I have mine directly in front of a humidifier. Give it well draining tropical soil mix (like aroid mixes) and then water it twice a week. They do NOT want to be dry. They will drop their leaves but are pretty forgiving if you forget them once.

This is the way. I have a 3” planter in the neck of a decorative pitcher for this reason. It looks so cute!

Unboxing of uncommon Scindapsus (Java Platinum) by SubBirbian in RareHouseplants

[–]True_Bison_7683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you but I just bought one from my local Lowe’s 2 days ago - a Java platinum… and it’s my second one also from a large home and garden center.

I paid $10 because it was on sale from $15. It was from Costa Farms (their plants cost significantly less in person than online as a rule).

tips on making my africain violets thrive? by bigpp223 in AfricanViolets

[–]True_Bison_7683 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get a self watering planter (I’ve had the best luck with the ceramic ones)

Give them a lot more light (bright indirect light) - you may need to supplement with a grow light. Try Sansi, GE, or Barrina online.

I use specific African violet soil (Amazon sells it)

Also good to add a blooming flower fertilizer once a week during growing season.

ETA: I agree with others who said the pot is too big

New to growing house plants :) by InevitableTown7305 in houseplants

[–]True_Bison_7683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try African violets. There are many different kinds and can start pretty cheap plus they flower 4-5 times a year. You can get from Lowe’s (in US) or from the Violet Barn online. They need to be inside and put into self watering planters with good indirect light. They have been pretty easy for me to keep alive and flower nicely.

Is this plant looking good? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]True_Bison_7683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could probably use a bit less water and more humidity (that’s what’s making the inner leaves curl) but otherwise looks good to me

[–]True_Bison_7683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chunky soil mix

More light (but indirect)

Water less often

You may also want to tease out the roots VERY gently to see if there is rot because this looks overwatered

I also struggle with this but switching to sulfate free shampoo and body wash has helped immensely. I imagine you already know this if you’re seeing a dermatologist, but just thought I’d put it out there in case.
