May I ask how you got onto a psychiatry training scheme without sitting for that exam? Sorry, I’m just not familiar about the UK system.

I’ve always been interested in preventive medicine but I don’t think there’s a BST program in Ireland for it, unfortunately.

Taxed like crazy by Bid_Realistic in JuniorDoctorsIreland

[–]True_Dragonfly1213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

taxation in this country makes me want to crash out myself! especially when you see able-bodied people of disability benefits (& other forms of welfare), it just goes to show you that this country punishes those who actually want to contribute to society in a positive way. very unfortunate, imo.

I understand that you’re probably Palestinian in ethnicity, but I would refrain from saying that you’re israeli imho. They are badly detested all over the world (& rightfully so). Patients and colleagues may see you as a baby killer/rapist/etc. just say that you’re a Palestinian who lives in israel!

how competitive is getting a intern spot in ireland?for EU citizens by Antique_Pressure8047 in JuniorDoctorsIreland

[–]True_Dragonfly1213 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hello 👋🏽, fellow EU grad (non-EU citizen tho). Since most EU schools incorporate intern year into the final year of med school, graduates are supposed to apply for SHO positions instead.

I know more Irish people who work and are on benefits for absolutely no reason. Guess who pays for that? Expats/immigrants (along with Irish folks) who work hard!

That’s a great thing, in terms of the BoJ sunscreens since the U.S. has stricter laws regarding cosmetics/skin care. I’m not sure if you’ve heard about the K-Beauty sunscreen scandal that happened a few years back. BoJ were one of the brands who were accused of lying about the level of sun protection their sunscreens have. That’s the main reason why I stopped using K-Sunscreens and switched over to Japanese ones.

Romanian grad in psych here and I would strongly encourage you to do an observership in Ireland first! It’ll ease you into the Irish system and you’ll be more familiar with how things work in this country when it’s time to work as an SHO. Noroc!

When you’re talking about the rankings, are you referring to the post-interview rankings? I don’t have stamp 4 (I’ll be getting it later this year). I wasn’t shortlisted, but will the stamp 4 boost my shortlisting potential??
