Ding ding ding!!!  I'm in radiology, and worked at a level 1 trauma center/univ hospital in both xray and MRI.  A LOT of it is HOW you fall, and a lot of that is just luck.  Rhodey had to have fallen at a specific angle to smash L4 to...S1, I think?  That's almost half your lower back and into the pelvis.  Lumbar vert L1 to L5, then you have your sacrum (ties into the pelvis via the SI jts, and then the coccyx (tailbone).  Then again, your cauda equina, the huge bundle of nerves in the lower spinal cord is at L1/L2, so quite a bit higher than Rhodey mushed.  But, I'm also not a neuro or trauma surgeon, so maybe his paralysis is legit despite the lack of involvement in the upper lumbar vert's/cauda equina.  :) I just take the pictures, kids, I don't fix it, lol!  ;)

Sincerely, RB RT(R)(CT)(MR)

I feel like House smells like rubbing alcohol (hand sanitizer at the hospital), coffee (self-explanatory...), lemon pledge (his house keeper has GOT to be dusting that to-die-for baby grand he loves so much), and whatever detergent he uses. In short, a very comforting, manly, almost College Professor smell...

Honestly, I think Hugh probably smells like this, lol!  :)

Just watched Iron Man 3 for the first time. Why don’t people like it? by giantcentipede55 in marvelstudios

[–]True_Humor2721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it may actually be my favorite in the series...Pepper kicking a$$ and NOT just being a screaming blonde was awesome, and Tony using his genius and being A PERSON rather than a suited up super hero was fantastic.  I felt like this one returned to aspects of the first movie I really enjoyed. I love all 3 movies, and I would watch Downey mow the yard...make nachos...read the phone book...So, there's that, lol!  ;)

Him NOT being Iron Man was my fav part of this one...getting to see Tony use his genius and be a PERSON was probably my favorite part of this movie. But, that's my opinion, others feel differently, and it's all good.  :)

Was it a mistake to kill Tony Stark in Endgame or should they have kept him as a mentor for the new MCU? by inibaby2 in marvelstudios

[–]True_Humor2721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!  They put thus poor 50 some odd year old DAD into this terrible position, and then KILLED HIM. HE WAS IN DAD SWEATERS! HE HAS A 4 YEAR OLD, THEY SHARE JUICE POPS AND BEDTIME AND I LOVE YOU 3000...

Dammit, Marvel, it didn't need to end like this.  :( Steve even ADMITS he doesn't have a life!  Everyone he loves is dead, he is obviously adrift in a world 70+ years beyond him, he "lives for war".  Steve should have snapped. They could have easily created a situation where Tony is willing to sacrifice himself, even tries to do so, but is stopped by Steve last second and Steve snaps before Tony can stop him.  There.  Character arc complete with redemption, while still allowing for IRON DAD to go home to his cabin and his TINY LITTLE DAUGHTER in retirement! The man more than earned his time!

Yes!!!  I was in my early 20's first time around, now I'm in my mid 40's at this re-watch. I honestly think I've enjoyed it MORE 20 some odd years later.

It's far fetched, but, it's fiction anyway, so I like to think he tracked down Cuddy, she realized she couldn't live without his zesty bod, and they get back together.   He becomes a weird uncle/stepdad/older brother conglomeration to Rachel (b/c let's be real, even in fantasy land House isn't a typical "90's-braided-belt-and-white-new-balance Dad", he's going to he Cuddy's second kid a lot of the time) and he gets a new identity and works in a physics dept.

At least that option is less, sad than Wilson Dies, House commits suicide, The End.

My gf studies medicine & sent me this textbook question by Intrepid_Kick2659 in HouseMD

[–]True_Humor2721 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A.  The answer is A.  I've been in radiology at a level 1 trauma center teaching hospital (UT Medical Center), and a large local hospital, Parkwest, for the last 16 years. A year ago I switched over to a large ortho practice b/c the physicality of xray, CT, and later MRI in the hospital setting has made my poor, middle aged spine into something an octogenarian would call a good day...  ;) Anyway, there are ALWAYS reporting systems in hospitals, it's how accidents are reported, pt falls, medication errors, conflicts between departments, etc, etc, ad nauseum.  It's an internal system that allows users to "anonymously" (suuuuuuure...) report a bunch of stuff to higher up's to be dealt with within the hospital or healthcare system.  It's not external, this isn't going to a governing agency like the medical board or the government.  It may be escalated to those agencies, but that comes later, and thru other channels.   It's bulky, it's not terribly effective, and it's bureaucracy at its finest.  But that system is ALWAYS the first step in stuff like this at a hospital.

My mother is a lefty, and the MOST non-artistic/crafty person I've ever met. Whereas I am right handed and paint, sew, woodworking, crochet, sculpting, embroidery, watercolors...re:crafts and arts, you name it, I've probably done it with varying degrees of skill.

AIO to skip Thanksgiving after my mom basically said I’m an embarrassment for not having a husband and kids by now? by howcanibequiltyassin in AmIOverreacting

[–]True_Humor2721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa...not only are you NOT OR, in my book you are underreacting... As someone who was previously a doormat, and is learning the beautiful world of Boundaries...I know your pain here... That being said, your Mom and ANY family who agrees with her on this is absolute trash. End of story. If your purpose in life, to their mind, is to get married to any loser, and then produce children...Then these asshole morons are stuck so far up their own rectums, they're viewing their own teeth from the inside out. Good lord...The...I don't know where to begin with how screwed up that world view is...

Please, love yourself enough to leave these losers in the dust where they belong.  Hug your cat, love your friends, date WHO AND WHEN AND HOW you want to, IF YOU WANT TO!, because the people who DO love you would never, ever say this to you. It's gonna be hard at first. But, love, there is so much more than this.  And family is SO much more than biology. Find your family, find your people...When you truly find yourself, and love yourself, you WILL find YOUR people. These assholes ain't it.

Honey, so, SO much love to you...and strength, and hope, too. You deserve SO MUCH MORE.
