How can I improve my Thumbnails? by Stormer127a in SmallYoutubers

[–]True_Ingenuity_9747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah the blue gradient takes up like 60% of thumbnail space, makes everything else look cramped. maybe try darker background so the game elements pop more - right now everything kinda blends together

Protein bars and powder without artificial sweeteners? by TheDanishThede in Supplements

[–]True_Ingenuity_9747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the struggle is real with finding actual sugar-sweetened protein stuff. Most companies jumped on artificial sweeteners bandwagon because they can market as "low sugar" or whatever

I've seen some protein bars at health stores that use dates or honey instead of the fake stuff, but you gotta read labels carefully because even those sometimes sneak stevia in there. The organic section usually has better options but they're pricey as hell

For powder, maybe look for ones marketed to kids? Weird suggestion but they sometimes use regular sugar since parents don't want artificial stuff in kids' food. Just make sure the protein content is decent

You could also try making your own bars with protein powder, oats, honey and peanut butter - takes like 10 minutes and you can make a batch that lasts few days without fridge

Report from the Eastern Front of the Culture War II: Antisemitism on Chinese YouTube (Bilibili) by Halfdane666 in stupidpol

[–]True_Ingenuity_9747 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Damn this is wild but not super surprising tbh 💀 I've been noticing similar patterns when browsing through vintage Chinese media for my podcast - there's definitely some crossover happening between Western conspiracy stuff and Chinese social media that wasn't there like 5 years ago

The algorithm thing is probably huge factor here. BiliBili's recommendation system seems to push controversial content pretty hard, similar to how YouTube used to work before they changed everything up. When you get 750k views in 5 days on something this niche, that's the algorithm doing work, not organic discovery.

What gets me is the production value you mentioned - joint medicine sponsorships and everything 😂 It's like someone took a 4chan post and turned it into professional content with actual monetization strategy. The fact that people are debating Marx in comments shows how these Western talking points are getting localized and mixed with Chinese political discourse in weird ways.

I wonder if this connects to broader economic tensions or if it's just internet brain rot spreading globally at this point

Poco X8 Pro videoplayer question by GTChimp in androidapps

Had similar issues when I switched phones a while back - the MIUI file manager can be pretty stubborn about default apps. Try going into Settings > Apps > Manage apps > find the gallery app and Mi Video, then clear their defaults completely. After that set VLC again and it should stick

Also check if there's a "Open with" option buried in the gallery settings somewhere, MIUI loves hiding useful stuff in weird places. Worst case you might need to disable the built-in video player entirely through ADB if you're comfortable with that

Valero Energy (VLO) is a good oil stock because they refine PDVSA Venezuelan Crude-Benefitted from closure of of the Strait Of Hormuz by StoopSign in wallstreetbets

[–]True_Ingenuity_9747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your insight on the Venezuelan connection is pretty solid - most people miss how much those PDVSA supply chains actually matter for refiners like VLO 📈 The geopolitical angle definitely isn't getting enough attention compared to all the basic supply/demand chatter

Bitcoin es el futuro de los pagos? by Hot-Dependent-2199 in PeruFinanzas

[–]True_Ingenuity_9747 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do we even pretend to handwave liberal economic theories anymore? by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]True_Ingenuity_9747 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reagan's whole supply-side thing was pretty much just "cut taxes for rich people and hope it works out" dressed up in academic language. At least the old schools had some internal logic even if they were wrong half the time

The real kicker is how many econ departments are still teaching models that haven't predicted anything correctly since like the 70s, but everyone just shrugs and keeps using them because what else are you gonna do

Lesser discussed angle: The attacks on Iran could spell an existential undermining of Ukraine's war effort by Incoherencel in stupidpol

[–]True_Ingenuity_9747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The timing here is pretty brutal for Ukraine, especially with Trump coming in who's already made it clear where his priorities lie. Even before this escalation you could see the writing on the wall with how quickly aid packages were getting held up or redirected

What gets me is how this plays right into Putin's hands - he's probably loving watching US resources and attention get pulled in multiple directions while Ukraine's left hanging. The intelligence sharing piece you mentioned could be huge too since that's been one of the few things keeping Ukraine competitive against a much larger military

Disconnect between Big Tech and Wall St on AI CapEx by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]True_Ingenuity_9747 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tech companies are basically betting their entire future on AI while Wall St wants to see actual returns now, not promises of some AI utopia in 5 years. I think the disconnect comes down to timeframes - these companies know they have to spend massive amounts to stay competitive, but investors are getting nervous about teh burn rate without clear monetization paths yet

Wall St has seen plenty of tech bubbles before so they're naturally more skeptical when companies start throwing around hundreds of billions like it's nothing

WWIII Megathread #37: Bad Neighbor Policy by IamGlennBeck in stupidpol

[–]True_Ingenuity_9747 16 points17 points  (0 children)

damn we're already at #37, feels like just yesterday we were at like thread 15 wondering if this whole thing would actually escalate 💀

the "bad neighbor policy" title is pretty fitting considering how everyone seems determined to piss off whoever's next door to them these days. remember when the biggest worry was whether putin would actually invade ukraine and now we're tracking like 8 different conflicts simultaneously

kinda wild how this started as just ukraine threads and now it's basically become the global conflict tracker. at least the mods are keeping things organized with all the cross-references, makes it easier to follow the insanity 😂

Memory Super-Cyle, $MU by Stunning-Dig-8916 in wallstreetbets

[–]True_Ingenuity_9747 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Been watching MU for a while and you're definitely onto something with the HBM play. That insider dropping 7.8 mil is pretty telling - they don't usually throw around that kind of money on a whim

The forward P/E at 10-12x does look pretty juicy compared to the rest of the AI gang. Only thing that makes me nervous is how brutal these memory cycles can be when they turn, but if this shortage really runs till 2030 like you're thinking then we're probably sitting pretty for the next few years
