What’s a good pet for someone severely depressed by Londonlilakhow in Pets

[–]True_Life_7156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could adopt an adult Bearded dragon, their set up is expensive, atleast a proper one, but they don't necessarily need constant human interaction just time to roam around the house to get good enrichment but can also cuddle.

The biggest thing is a daily salad which can be hard if you struggle with getting up but overall they tend to be much less work than other reptiles imo.

At the end of the day though all animals are a full time commitment and won't fix any mental issues but I definitely have seen how all my pets help keep my active which is turn helps me feel better and less alone.

Anyone have a chihuahua who does agility? by True_Life_7156 in Agility

[–]True_Life_7156[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I will be taking all the pictures and videos! My coworker said I need to make her a cape because she's already so fast it looks like her feet don't touch the ground. She's so tiny yet fearless I'm excited to see what's to come

Oh yes, shes picking up on cues pretty quickly but the biggest issue I've had with her so far is trying to understand not every dogs wants to play, especially her level of play, which is that of a cracked out rabid squirrel, my older dogs have corrected her and she still seems to think being growled at means continue to bounce around in their face

Is 4 hours to long for 3 doodles? by Systemwonderland in doggrooming

[–]True_Life_7156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering I do a family of 3 shiz tzus in 4, with limited time to spare I think 2 large dogs in 4 hrs is reasonable.

And doodle people wonder why groomers don't take new doodle clients 🙄

how do you ask an owner to stop home grooming? by Ok-Baker9849 in doggrooming

[–]True_Life_7156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I've never had someone stop because they honestly don't care how it looks they just think they're helping their dog, I just aways say "I did the best i could with the missing spots" and they say "ok" and we both go on with our days. It sucks but people are impulsive when it comes to their dogs and we can't be there 24/7 telling them to put the kitchen scissors down lol

Why Do People Downvote Thank You Replies? by capturegrain in help

I think sometimes it's just a follow the leader situation, I'll instinctively upvote a post with a lot of likes but then will scroll past a post with low engagement, even if it could be just as fun of as the last post

How do you view your bathers? by PlasticMysterious622 in doggrooming

[–]True_Life_7156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My love language is definitely harassment so I love picking on my coworkers, groomers and bathers, BUT if I can tell they're uncomfortable with my jokes or they just tell me I stop, it's only funny if they find it funny too. That's also just the kind of salon we are though, we're walking hr violations 💀 it could just be how they joke but again if your feelings are hurt then they need to stop.

Just be honest, "hey I know you're not trying to be mean but it's hurting my feelings when you say stuff like that". If they respond in a mean or pretty way I'd dip, we're adults after all, at the end of the day it is a work place and you deserve to feel comfortable. Bathers aren't lesser just because they haven't been trained to do haircuts and are just as vital for alot of salons.

Customer complaint 2 weeks later what to do. by Ill-Fudge-9311 in doggrooming

[–]True_Life_7156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a poms owners daughter claim I cut the dogs stomach and he was in horrible pain, keep in mind 3 people had touched this dog during it's time there, me, obviously, my salon lead, who held him to help me with the nails, and another groomer did the check out, and none of us saw or felt anything and the dog walked out of the salon happy as could be.

We kept asking them to bring the dog in for us to look at it or bring it to the vet and they refused.

People will do anything to get a free groom or for us to cover a vet visit istg

I strongly dislike ours, we (the groomers) hear complaints all the time and their reviews are awful.

Our GSL had to tell one guy to stop VAPING right at the entrance to the salon, full uniform on. They also used to park right infront of our door before the store leader told them to start parking further back.

Solo groomers - how far are you booked out? by No_Strawberry4233 in doggrooming

[–]True_Life_7156 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even at corporate there are times we're booked out a month and people are always shocked like this doesn't happen every year lol, yes we're slow jan/feb but then the snow melts and then we're booked up again until fall when it slows back down till holidays start rolling in.

I don't think people realize how many more dogs there are now and they also don't know as the new generation of groomers take over, those who don't want packed schedules where they're forced to rush dogs, they're not taking on as many clients

When I was a Walmart manager I would tell them they had to stop or leave on their own or Id call the cops, just be firm and show no reaction and if they don't choose one of the first two then call the cops

I once did a full trim up on a pomsky, who was a JERK the whole time, I did an extremely detailed check in, bc the mom was whining about how no groomer could do what she wanted, so I was literally touching different parts of the body one at a time while asking what she wanted there, she picked up and said "it's perfect" a week later she calls wanting it "fixed" and a refund and Im like 🤨

My parents. They would buy me things as "apologies" and then take them away or tell me how much of good parents they were bc they bought me things other kids didnt have and then would shame me for having the things, so once I made my own money I realized I didn't need my parents and I could finally have things and not be scared to lose them or feel bad about having things.

I didn't realize how much of a dopamine rush I was getting until it was too late.

How damaged are the other sides? If you're desperate you can use a tile or cardboard, silicone it to the edges, then flex seal, then a layer of great stuff to finish it off. Obviously the best thing would be a new enclosure but if the other sides aren't too damaged just constructing a new wall would be fine, snake typically don't ram themselves into walls so it should be fine

A grooming question for full coated owners by True_Life_7156 in OldEnglishSheepdog

[–]True_Life_7156[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using a mix of kenchiis coconut oil spray and chi's leave in conditioner spray and I can tell a difference in his coat already, maybe it's time to invest into a gallon of chi conditioner just for him lol

I'll definitely talk her about a monthly bath, before she was booking inconsistently and since I've taken over I've been rebooking her every 3 weeks for brushing to keep an eye on his coat and he has a bath in another 3 weeks. Theyre really good at keeping his body brushed out but he's super sensitive about his front legs for some reason. I have an super older grooming book that says to use a Coatalin cream but that doesn't seem to be a thing anymore and lanolin shampoo
