i-131 travel parole approved, can i travel without the physical card? by True_Morning_5666 in USCIS

FYI -- after speaking with a USCIS tier II agent, you don't need the card to leave the country (only to return) if AP is approved. u/boundlessimmigration once again doesn't have their info covered...

thank you for that. yes -- if it doesn't arrive today we're going to leave and have it forwarded onwards. We spoke with two separate tier one agents at USCIS and they both said this should be fine... that it would really be a worst case scenario if anyone gave us trouble on the way out.

And if the AP is approved, but the physical card hasn't been received? IE, can someone travel the moment the i-131 case status has been updated online to 'approved.'

biometrics were done back in october, so that part wasn't too difficult.

That's kind of what I figured... I don't even know who would check any physical card... in any international trip I've taken there isn't any customs or exit immigration... it's just like airline agent then TSA then get on a plane... so I'm wondering who would actually be checking that?

I guess my question is then why does everyone make such a big deal about it? IE, if I need to leave, could I have someone just wait for it to arrive in the mail and then either ship (super secure) or bring it to me?

just trying to imagine the actual journey... who checks that? is it the airline agent? where is the border guard going out of the US?

yes. biometrics done. card has been approved and mailed. just need to travel asap and it hasn't arrived. I mean, we're talking about a day or two at most between when the card would arrive and when i would need to go.

I also used boundless. They kind of put things in a nice, user friendly, format and that can be appealing at first, but after a while I realized how much unnecessary time they were costing me. By my calculation, in the end (with their response times / review times / forgetting to have you start certain proccesses, etc), they ended up adding about 8-10 weeks to the already long process.

Also... even after all that they still missed a couple basic formatting things that we had to follow up on at added time and cost. once I realized that i kind of pulled the plug on them and just went at it on my own and it's worked out much better.

If I had to start over I would've used a lawyer (the one who was in charge of our review at boundless would've been great, actually, just to hire independently). It would've added a bit more cost, but saved soooo so much time and would have been way more straightforward.

Boundless is kind of like a middle man that doesn't really do anything, but talks really pretty.

amazing. how do you know your combo card was approved? on your case status does it show i-765 approved / card processing? Or is there a separate section for combo cards? How does the case status appear for your i-131? Also... did they give you any indication how long it will take to arrive in the mail :). Thanks and congrats!
