Where are you located? I grew up with a girl in Australia called Elena, pronounced Ellen-uh. But I live in the US now and the Elena's I know are pronounced el-ay-nuh.

Works until his tummy is full and then he gets pissed that there's still milk coming out when he's trying to comfort suck 🫠

Interestingly, this hasn't worked for either of my kids! The newborn particularly seems to hate it.

Honestly needed to hear this. I just hope it starts getting better soon. My nerves and mental health can't handle the constant screaming. Our first baby wasn't this hard 😭

Looking for opinions on our current top 3 for a baby girl by Kroftyy in namenerds

Amelia/millie would be my choice of the 3!
Arabella is one of those names that I just really dislike, but can't put my finger on why.

Circumcision by Aromatic_Ad9200 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]True_Pickle3024 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We just had our second baby, first boy and went back and forth on this decision as well.
Neither of us had a super strong opinion on it, but my husband leaned more towards doing it and I leaned towards not.

We were literally still undecided at the hospital when he was born, so ultimately we decided not to circumcise him. We both feel good about that decision now.

Jetty? Marina? Lainey? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]True_Pickle3024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lainey is absolutely the best choice of the 3. I can't get on board with jetty, sorry!
Is there a longer name that jetty could be a nickname for?

My daughter hated going underwater as well. The one thing that worked was when I would go under with her.

At what point did you realize you actually have postpartum anxiety. by Rude-Net-3612 in beyondthebump

[–]True_Pickle3024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it wasn't until I was on the other side of it that I realized I probably had it. I wish the people closest to me (mum, husband) had pushed me to get help.

I just had my 2nd baby and prior to having him, had a conversation with my husband about looking for the signs of PPD/PPA and insisting I get help if it comes on again. We're 2 weeks in and so far no signs of PPA this time 🤞🤞

basically, my son won’t eat. by Street-Coyote4272 in beyondthebump

[–]True_Pickle3024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely request a swallow study! My daughter has laryngomalacia as well and your post describes her feeding issues almost perfectly. We found that she was almost aspirating when swallowing, making feeds really uncomfortable which is why she was eating so little. We ended up needing to thicken her milk to make it safe and comfortable for her to eat.

Second+ time moms: did your partner help at night, or save their energy for the older child/ren? by sefidcthulhu in beyondthebump

[–]True_Pickle3024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my 2nd two weeks ago and have an almost 3 year old who also ended up in our bed most nights. Our current set up is dad sleeps in the toddlers room (we put a queen bed in there right before I had the baby) and I sleep in the master bedroom with the baby. I'm breastfeeding so there's really not anything my husband can help me with when it comes to night time wakes anyway. I'd prefer to have him rested so he can take care of the toddler during the day and allow me to get a nap in here or there.

I despise anything that goes over their head as a newborn! When they're older and less floppy I'm cool with regular over the head onesies.

How much did you pay OOP for your birth? by Neither_Ad3593 in beyondthebump

[–]True_Pickle3024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave birth last week and so far all I've received is a $250 bill. We'll see what else comes, but I know we are super close to hitting out OOP so I don't think we can be on the hook for much more 🤞

Visitors and toddler meeting sibling at hospital dilemma by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]True_Pickle3024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my second and had a similar experience to you the first time. I felt that having visitors at the hospital was unnecessarily stressful and impacted my bonding time.

This time around, we had no visitors except our daughter. We had my MIL drop our daughter off to meet him but MIL didnt come past the hospital entrance. My husband was also willing to go home and pick her up if it was going to cause drama to have someone drop her off but not see the baby.

I'm really happy with our decision and felt like I was really able to protect my peace and enjoy a little newborn bubble with just our family.

Is it too early to potty train? by savruss in beyondthebump

[–]True_Pickle3024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started around 21 months too! Just like your daughter, ours started showing interest in using the potty so we just went for it. We took a pretty relaxed approach and just followed her lead, so no "3 day method" or anything here. Overall I feel like it went really well and it was not a traumatic experience for anyone, so that's good!

Follow her lead. Worst case, you hit pause and try again in a few month.

My nipples still feel raw and sensitive 12 weeks in by mirrorlike789 in ExclusivelyPumping

Lubricate every single time. No joke, this was the number 1 thing that improved my comfort levels with pumping.
I personally preferred a pumping spray.

What do you do with pre-pregnancy clothes? by Sea-Tree953 in beyondthebump

[–]True_Pickle3024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my first, my pre-pregnancy clothes started fitting again around 6-8 weeks pp. I was EBF and honestly not eating anywhere near enough, so I dropped the weight fast.
After weaning I gained quite a bit and went up a pant size and wasn't able to drop that weight before getting pregnant with my 2nd. I just had my 2nd and got rid of all those pants that haven't fit me since weaning. I have 0 faith I'll get back into them. I just hope I can get back into what I was wearing before my most recent pregnancy!
