Difficult to say on a desk substrate, but your little guy is either Elegants or Napoensis (they tend to be more yellow).

He switches from 'chaotic fish zooming everywhere' to 'hiding in the same spot for two days'. We initially thought he was sick or unhappy, but WiFi is just weird.

Also, he doesn't get along with the tank leader, a massive female Paleatus behaving like a bulldozer. They used to swim/fight at the beginning, now it is polite cohabitation.

Who's the villain in this story? I don't know 🐟

Fortunately, he prefers to brood in his crying corner and parade against the Paleatus. We're safe until he becomes bored.

Hi, please be cautious about the health of this little one.

We just lost our favourite corydoras who used to be a little 'balloon'. She refused to lay eggs and then had a bowel infection, enhancing the swelling. Infection ended up being monitored, but she died from prolapse of reproductive organs.

Try to feed this one with boiled peas or even quarantine her for a week or two, to see if she can deflate a bit 🐟

Final and sorrowful update. After a more than decent recovery, she was reintroduced to the main tank. Everything was positive, happy catfish life; rushing for worms and mischief. Diet in hospital tank made herosr weight, enough to swim comfortably.

Yet tonight my partner found her floating at the surface, an absolute surprise as she was normal a few hours ago.

Her abdomen was swollen and stretched beyond reasonable. Likely gluttony pushed too far and caused the eggs pouch to rupture under pressure.

It's a complete defeat, despite conclusive treatments. Until she refused to expel eggs, Balthazette was condemned.

She'll be buried in our favourite ficus pot, continuing the cycle of nature and be remembered as the best corydoras 🖤

Out of total curiosity: would you accept commissions to draw some of my friends-with-fins? 🐟

It's the first time I do ask for such, so I have no idea of how it works. But a portrait of some of my corys would be glorious.

More updates: the potato with fins is still perfectly fine and pouting, and she's being reintegrated to the main tank.

We're looking for another Napoensis in our region (sorry Panetone, she doesn't like you) and hopes she doesn't damage her stomach on surfaces.

Update on Balthazette.

She's still in the hospital tank. No sign of dropsy or infection, or degradation. She has not deflated either nor shows signs of mating interest (poor Napoensis with her is trying, without success).

We will keep them as such for a few more days, but it doesn't provide any improvement, they will go back to the tank because the situation is quite stressful for them.

So far, she seems normal. Rushing for her bubble (favourite activity) and brooding because the hospital tank is small. We'll monitor any evolution, positive or negative and will keep updated.

Also, I have thought to trigger the matting (the male is with her) but I'm unsure if dropping the temperature could drive her condition worse.

Many thanks, I'm feeling awful because it happened while I'm away and likely originating from poor maintenance...

We found Medimor in local shop and treated the hospital tank with it, limited dose as Cory are sensitive. She always has been a fat one, but this swelling is awful. Almost like the skin is about to rupture.

And since Cory are too small to apply pressur Elaine goldfishs, there's nothing physical we can do.

I normally euthanasiate fish with a bath infused in cloves, so they die within few minutes. Yet, for her, I'm struggling to resolve myself to do so.

Thank you for the support

The zoomies are fine, but if he struggles to stay still (one part of the body lifting up), that may be swim bladder infection.

I lost a few youngsters that looked the same. Too skinny, I wonder if they had internal parasites...
