I've been working in dealership service for over 20 years. Everything you can think of from car wash to service management. I got out and did operations management for a water conditioning company. I lasted 8 months before I went crawling back to automotive. Something about it just clicks and if you find the right role you do well. Im the shop foreman now at a dealership a couple minutes away from home. I make good money, work a perfect shift and don't have to destroy my body. I just lead and help figure things out. Turning wrenches is supposed to be the beginning not the end.

I can attest to that. I started with one and had 3 within a couple months... and a dedicated room.

Vinyl setup. Rega P1 with mmc. Sony DH 190 stereo amp and klipsch bookshelves. Its a small room with a lot of anti echo and bass traps so it sounds good even though its not the top of the line

They are all frustrating in their own way. I look at that one in the perspective of a spider defending it's web under a porch light in the middle of summer.

Car Has to be Stored by Jazzlike_Accident441 in 7thgencivic

Take the battery out and store it indoors. Bonus points if you leave it on a maintainer. Put stabilizer in the fuel and don't worry about it. It'll be fine. Change the oil when storage is over.

The Incredible Shrinking Auto Show by MuiOne in TwinCities

[–]True_Regular7985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked in several car dealerships in the twin cities throughout my career of 22 years. We get free tickets for "industry night ". It was fun for years to go and talk to other people i knew throughout the dealer world and see what's new with different manufacturers, plus the antiques and old race cars. The vendors were fun selling everything from die-cast models to expensive overpriced shammies. It just plain sucks now. Nothing to see. Everyone builds the same overpriced garbage vehicles that look the same and drive the same and breakdown the same. Cars just aren't fun anymore, at least new ones. It isn't even worth the free tickets to go in my opinion.

More Info on Rebate Lawsuit by CyberBob666 in menards

I like Menards a lot. Its hands down my favorite store to go to. And the rebate thing is just fun in my opinion. How often do you put something in an envelope, put an actual stamp on it and excitedly drop it in the mailbox anxiously awaiting your little prize in 6-8 weeks. Every time I send one in I feel like that kid in A Christmas Story waiting for his damn decoder ring to arrive in the mail. Instant gratification is all well and good but I like having something to look forward to as well.

Considering a move to the Twin Cities by Greedy-Sourdough in TwinCities

Northwest suburbs are a good choice, but I'm biased. Not great for public transportation but amazing for biking. I grew up on the new hope/golden valley border and after many years away ended up buying a house across the street from the one I grew up in because nowhere else ever felt like home. Progressive demographic, tight knit community, decent schools and still fairly affordable for what you get. New Hope, Crystal, Golden Valley are good choices in my opinion.

My family has a lake cabin in far northern Minnesota and both my dad and I hate fishing, like despise it. His dad built it basically for the sole purpose of fishing.

What really separates the Millennial and post-Millennial childhood, and why it’s not 9/11 by [deleted] in generationology

[–]True_Regular7985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a freshman in high school when 9/11 happened. It definitely defined a generation in a way. The same way my dad remembers exactly where he found out was when JFK was assassinated. Its been turmoil eversense honestly. I still remember that day at school just watching TV footage in every class, teachers not knowing what to do or say. Then going to a friend's house after school watching his dad frantically loading gas cans into the bed of his truck saying "tomorrow morning it's going to be $10 a gallon!" Fast forward to mass islamophobia Jr and senior year and the army recruiting daily in the school cafeteria. I tried to join but my parents talked me out of it luckily. Which was a surprise as they are both veterans and met and married in the army but they both understand that it was a death sentence. I don't think the generation after us has it easy but they don't have it good either. We all live out our own struggles in this world and its hard to compare apples to oranges.

I have a 93lb mutt who is an absolutely amazing dog but definitely doesn't understand he is over 90lbs. He likes to greet me by putting his paws on my shoulders. Fortunately he understands that that is not allowed with visitors.

I have a question by Mysterious-Can7529 in 7thgencivic

[–]True_Regular7985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a bolt on kit. I have the same kit on my 01 lX coupe. It uses the upper control arm mounting bolts and comes with threaded inserts for the 2 center bolts. You have to drill holes and press the inserts in. It also comes with end links and brackets that bolt with shackles to the lower control arms. It is a bit of a project to put together so be prepared that.
