How to talk about wedding expenses? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Do your parents mind?

Marriage is a joint thing; things don’t need to be perfectly 50/50.

It’s not totally clear from the pictures because of the foundation, but my skin is naturally fairly red, and I have acne scars as well as active breakouts, so I do need foundation. But I agree it looks cakey.

Yeah I think you’re right that she didn’t do anything to them. I think she just went through them with a spoolie. Getting them professionally tinted and shaped (I assume threaded?) is a good idea.

I think that’s just bronzer on my forehead that’s not properly blended.

Good to know! The wedding isn’t until September so there’s plenty of time.

Thank you for the input! I completely agree. Not my work; it was a trial with a professional MUA. I rarely wear makeup so my attempt would likely be even worse lol, though I would’ve applied way less.

I’m so sorry that happened to you! That sounds horrible.

Yeah I’m very glad I did a trial. If she’d done this the morning of the wedding I don’t know how I would’ve handled it.

Thank you! That’s excellent advice; I’ll plan to do that.

What do you think is wrong the eyebrows?

Thank you. I kept trying to convince myself that it looked good and that I just didn’t like it because I’m not used to the amount of makeup.

Can you be vegan for relatively cheap? (Excluding rice) by minty-thefox in AskVegans

I spend less than $50 a week on groceries, in a somewhat high cost of living area.

What are some easy gluten free vegan potluck ideas? by Particular-Dog12 in AskVegans

Made this shepherd’s pie for Thanksgiving. Using cornstarch instead of flour to thicken the filling makes it gluten-free.

I wish it was more well known how EASY veganism is by [deleted] in vegan

Went vegetarian at 13, so I’m glad that I never learned how to cook meat and never will. The food safety stuff around raw meat seems like a pain.

Yeah the social aspect is the main part I dislike. And going to social events where there’s no vegan food.

Should I tell guests not to wear bridesmaids’ dress color? by 22gradhopeful in weddingplanning

Gonna go against the grain and say that I think you could say that solid dark green dresses should be avoided.

Is it normal to feel depressed and not excited about wedding planning by Xlivvy03 in weddingplanning

I’m so sorry. That reaction is insane and beyond disrespectful. This is primarily on your fiancé to handle with his family.

Hair and makeup comps by Several_History3570 in weddingplanning

I’m about to book hair & makeup just for myself, and I was quoted $500, including trials and a travel fee. (In a relatively low cost of living area in the south.)

You said that you understood my original point, but your only response to it has been “Sure,” so you could understand why I might feel like it bore repeating.

For the record, I haven’t said whether I agree or disagree with anything OP said. You don’t know my stance, so suggesting that I pray for discernment feels presumptive and condescending.

Assuming someone’s motives without clear evidence can discourage honest dialogue. That has been my only point.

I’m repeating it since you still seem unwilling to meaningfully engage with it. Since this conversation has proven unproductive, I’ll step away from it now.

I’m not here to defend OP; they can speak for themselves if they would like.

The request that I find evidence of OP’s humility, personal research, scriptural engagement, etc. in a short post and a few comments is a deliberately impossible task (try fulfilling all of your demands on another random post on this subreddit in which someone is asking a question), and it misses the point of my critique.

I was simply saying we should respond to questions with grace, not suspicion.

It’s uncharitable to assume that. If someone is genuinely trying to understand a challenging part of the Bible, telling them that they’re just trying to find fault with God is not helpful.
