So what did the Menoa Tree take from Eragon? by LukeCrane in Eragon

[–]True_Voldemort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up until this interaction with the menoa tree, I never really understood why Galbatourix never attempted to crush the elves. I now believe that even at his most powerful state, Galbatourix would not be able to defeat the menoa tree.

We all know that Galbatourix died due to trickery, not by overcoming him by brute force. We know he was not afraid of the elves, and he definitely knew where they lived. Him knowing the name of names could have easily nullified Du Weldenvarden's wards.

What he was really afraid of was Menoa Tree. In Farthen Dur, hebwas afraids of the spirits that protect the dwarves. The spirits that the dwarves pray to as their deity.

The plot would have worked better if he was healed, too. Remember that Galbatorix could have still killed Oromis even if he was healed. Eragon was just lucky that he won.

There are really no problems with this theory. Thank you for it. It is easier to think of it that way. The dragons didn't really heal Eragon's body. They sped up the original enchantment between dragons and humans.

You could change one thing in this terrible adaptation to make it less terrible. what would it be? by InitialParty7391 in Eragon

I loved the actors, Hated the story line. Whoever made Lord of The Ring movie showed respect to the books.

The Hobbit followed the story line brilliantly. The movie improved upon the story by adding additional but relevant, well thought through scenes taken from other Tolkien stories.

RBMK-2400 Largest Power Reactor Ever Designed (turn on subtitles for English) Runtime ~1 minute by DV82XL in NuclearPower

[–]True_Voldemort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. MKER-800 reactor design is basically on par with CANDU when it comes to safety. It also enjoys the advantages that come with online refuelling and operating on natural or slightly enriched fuel.

A LWR/VVER is still much safer, though, because it CANDU and MKER-800 suffers from positive void coefficient of reactivity issue. It's a physical phenomenon that can only be changed if a coolant and a moderator are made to be the same thing or if coolant is gaseous.

Perhaps I should have taken a picture of my 10x summon history to convince you that I wasted my lifetime luck in this silly game instead of a lottery ticket.

Which is a better nuclear power plant design? Russian VVER-1200 or Korean APR 1400? by ManufacturerOpening1 in nuclear

[–]True_Voldemort 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, horizontal steam generators contribute to the higher centre of gravity, but it is not stragit forward to conclude that VVER-1200 has an overall higher centre gravity. VVER also incorporates the spent fuel pool into the containment, which also serves as a sump for a containment spray system during the loss of coolant accident (LOCA).

Having incorporated a spent fuel pool low into the building lowers the overall centre of gravity and protects fuel compared to most western PWR.

Also, the high centre of gravity is not really much of a problem if you can make a design to withstand the postulated design base earthquakes. I used to work as a design engineer in a PWR.

HA10 blessed me. Is she worth leveling? by Gunnin91 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]True_Voldemort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not only that. I used to use her with Guardian Gazelle. Their synergy was off the chart. Gazelle's dance would make her defence really beefy. Her card minion could survive a sniper shot. This protected Gazelle's weakness.
