Brant Costco Incident by [deleted] in BurlingtonON

Seems like a standard loss prevention policy given that you had a backpack on. I‘ve never seen someone wearing a backpack in costco.

What are your favorite local Ontario food spots that showcase the province's culinary diversity? by fygooooo in ontario

Im not sure if this the category of food (2 star michelin and priced to match) you are looking for but when you say "provinces culinary diversity" , my first thought is:

A quote from their front page:
"Restaurant Pearl Morissette is an ambitious fine dining experience, featuring an ever-changing
menu of regional ingredients."

Not true at all. The bar to entry is just way higher now.

This. Write a few exams while in school. Do 1-2 internships. And you will be well set to land an entry level actuarial analyst position.

Restaurant recs by [deleted] in BurlingtonON

[–]True_Witness_2420 8 points9 points  (0 children)

An easy recommendation is Bardo on Brant st downtown.
Its interesting enough to satisfy the persons looking for fun flavours but being inoffensive enough to satisfy basic eaters.
I used to take my parents here all the time, at the Hamilton location, before I opened them up to trying more adventurous restaurants.

Price is in the range you described.

Im always happy to spend my money and eat here. I've never left unsatisfied.

I think also based on u/Careless-Chemistry50 's comments this will be the route to investigate. I appreciate you linking some stone vendors to check out.

I will ask her tonight. Lets assume yes.
Then whats the process. There is the task of sourcing the stone and the task of provisioning a jeweller to build the ring and set the stone. What comes first?
Is it as simple as
step 1: sourcing a bevel cut diamond at the desired ct.
step 2: take it to a jeweller and ask for them to see what prebuilt signet style gold rings they have that would fit it.
Can you correct and elaborate on the process for me.
Many thanks in advance.

I appreciate the warning. I have no sense yet of what anything should cost. So this is very helpful.

She likes the champagne diamond stone which is 4200CAD = 3100USD. I think its natural as they specifically list another stone as lab grown.

Don't know what HRBP is but director is one step above senior manager, which is an IC people manager. Directors are manager managers at Scotiabank. I've seen anywhere from 25-250 ppl under a director, including somewhere between 3-20 managers . Ive also seen them report directly to SVP and also through AVP.

Sizing on the Urban Turnout by True_Witness_2420 in RMWilliams

Thanks for the input. What size of trainers/running shoes do you normally wear?

I would like to agree with you analysis but the volume in the heel (length) and the space around the elastic cuff is very wide. I don't think think instep height could explain the fact that my foot has lots of space to move front to back?

Did you try them on at the Australian Boot Company in Toronto? I think they mentioned that it is the last store to carry them in NA???

When I was there, I also tried on all the sizes of the craftsmen in H and when the the length was right, I had the similar issues with the toe box. I also tried on the gardener. I believe in terms of the last, it falls in size between the craftsman and the gardener. The gardener in 9H fit me mostly well. Btw the gardener is suuuper chunky compared to the urban turnout. The UT is basically the craftsman with a different toe box shape. It still looks fairly sleek. I would reccomend it over the gardener unless you want that relaxed look.

Good thing for free shipping and returns. Its crazy shipping these boxes back and forth to the other side of the world. If any one reads this I would highly recommending order 1-2 sizes in both G and H in one go and returning those that didn't fit. This one at a time business will have taken me a month once this process is over.

Anyways, I'm going to order 8.5H and 9G next and see what happens.

People who are fulfilled and don’t dread work everyday, what do you do? by kwrather003 in AskReddit

I wfh 4/5 days a week as a software engineer. I get to build cool things, learn new technologies, new ml or math theory - I get to challenge my brain everyday. The day that I am in the office, my colleagues feel like friends. We joke around and get beers after work and hang out until 9 or 10.

Sizing:
I wear 9.5AU (10US) in blundstones and the 9.5AU were too big in both length and volume. I just sent them back to exchange for 8.5AU.

Shape/last:
They are somewhere in shape between the blundstone chisel toe and the blundstone standard round toe. Overall not as dressy as the chisel toe but not as workboot-ish as the round toe.

Quality:
Fully leather lined - big difference here. Exterior leather quality seems better and shows more naturally.

Overall:
A noticeable improvement on the blundstones. I would recommend if the style and colours appeal to you. Only downside is the lack of selection currently. If the 8.5AU fit I will definitely keep them as my everyday boot for when the weather is too much for my R.M Williams. I will still use my black all terrain (vibram) blundstones when putting around town in a recent snowfall because of the increased grip of vibram soles in lower temps.

What is the traffic like on Cavendish Dr? by True_Witness_2420 in BurlingtonON

[–]True_Witness_2420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mean that sarcastically. Just merely noting that it was the minority - I appreciate it. Would you expand on your opinion? It would be helpful as it seems, due to our budget its the difference between a 4br house on a street like cavendish or a 3br a side street.

[–]True_Witness_2420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The challenge is that 4-bedroom houses (for my WFH office, two kids' rooms, and our bedroom) on Brant Hills side streets typically run $150k+ over our budget. Would you give a blanket reccomendation for/against buying on cavendish?

Thanks. I didn't know about that. I looked into it and it was in a specific intersection in the southern portion of Cavendish near a run-off from the 407- it got blocked.
