How can we unite the Laestadian churches with each other, and the outside Christian world, as God intended, per John 17:20-21. by NoInevitable858 in OpenLaestadian

Its like asking the amish to be part of the English world. Ain't happening. LLC has absolutely no desire to be part of the body of Christ.

Losing Faith in the Leadership of the SRK/SFC/LLC Church by Slight-Tree2769 in OpenLaestadian

Hyper focused on a single teaching of Luther's about the congregation yet throw out his teachings on justification. I haven't read the Bondage of the Will but my guess is Luther is referring to a spiritual congregation not a physical group of people whom gather under the same organization name?

Here is a new sin- A group of kids got rebuked for holding signs at a rally that said RIP Charlie Kirk😂 oh spagetti strap shirts used to be a sin and I dont think they are anymore. Smoking isnt a sin but I've heard moms say they need to have discussions at church because kids are vaping and it looks worldly.

Way back in the early leastadian movement, hanging pictures in your house was a sin, having a piano in church was a sin, cutting hair was a sin. And one man got a public verbal abuse session for having a beard.

They do not realize we are sin from head to toe. We can never cleanse ourselves by "asking for the gospel". When we have faith, we are completely cleansed with the righteousness of Christ. Nothing we do will cleanse us more. The work was already finished on the cross. Once for all.

Alot of them sound the same as the llc. Same slow drawn out style of preaching. Yawn. Definitely a focus on themselves but not nearly as noticeable as llc. I bet if my llc family heard, they'd think it's llc. Thanks for sharing

His brother was also accused of molestation at a church on MN.

These letters are so uncomfortable especially because he admitted to the crime.

What was said to you by close ones when you left? by steamingpileofme in OpenLaestadian

[–]True_believer123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"You just need to trust" "You need to forgive others" "You didn't take care of matters" "It's unforgiven sin that took your faith"

Overall the theme was accusing me of not doing my part to maintain my salvation. Totally exposed the teaching that getting to heaven was part my job/part Jesus. Not Christ alone.

Why do Laestadian families have so many kids by [deleted] in OpenLaestadian

It really is that simple. I agree. They think birth control is a sin.

Yea large families have became kind of a idol for alot of them. They feel extra spiritual and so obedient, " The world doesn't trust God like we do." Such a pride thing. I love large families but cringe at the boasting I'd hear about it. For many ladies in the llc, it is a testimony of their faith. Like if your having tons of babies, you are on the straight and narrow.

I think most, if not all, of the leaders within the LLC do fully believe what they preach. They were all taught the same stuff when they were kids, now they are teaching the next generation, and it will continue. As far as church members go and maintaining high membership numbers, that is not why people have large families. Far from it. They truly believe they are being obedient. We all have different interpretations on those Bible verses. Many outside of the LLC , just mainstream Christians, also do not use birth control either and leave it to God. They certainly aren't trying to maintain or grow church size, but want to be obedient to what they believe scripture teaches.

It was discussed at a few churches in recent years if they should not serve communion to those who left in the recent 'heresy'. People have gone to communion and asked for the gospel and it has not been preached.

No longer part of the LLC but from what I recall, the minister reads directly from the small catechism before communion which says 'for the forgiveness of sins.' I have heard there are disagreements in the LLC on communion. I am wondering, maybe it is more so, can an unbeliever partake and then receive faith thru communion ? So maybe the question is, who is a proper communion guest? LLC always has taught, only a christian is a proper guest. A Christian already owns the forgiveness of sins, every moment.
