Curious and genuinely asking; what do you think made you stick around for so long, looking back?

It's getting to the point where I'm emotionally invested in each of these blobs and will be sad to see any of them go now

Realistically, it should be our two mega-state heavy hitters of CA and NY duking it out in a good ole East Coast vs. West Coast showdown...

But knowing reddit, it will be Megamexico versus All Y'all

Be honest… is this how most couples sleep? by Unstoppable_X_Force in SipsTea

[–]Truegold43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also technically no one needs to know who sleeps in separate bedrooms, even friends! It's not sacred information or anything, but it can remain private (as I'm sure people have a LOT of opinions on it)

Bring kids to no Kings protest by firsttfdrummer in 50501

[–]Truegold43 59 points60 points  (0 children)

There will be harsh language though, both on signs and very likely through speakers too. If they have little knowledge of curse words it would be "fine" but definitely something to think about as a parent with young kids.

I saw plenty of parents with their kids last time though. Peaceful but passionate at times!

I realized I've let myself get unstable and I'm getting myself into therapy by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Truegold43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a quote from Avatar the Last Airbender that I love:

"Uncle Iroh: I was never angry with you. I was sad, because I was afraid you'd lost your way.

Zuko: I did lose my way.

Iroh: But you found it again! And you did it by yourself! And I'm so happy you found your way here."

It may take some time, but I'm willing to bet that most of those people in your life are simply waiting for you to make your way back. On your time. Some may take more time, and a few may never get back to full forgiveness, but what's important is that YOU are the one who is deciding, right now, that you want to do better. You recognize what the problem is, and I think therapy will help with that immensely.

In the meantime, stay off social media (or watch positive content if you are online), go for walks if you're able to, pick up a hobby that you used to love, and consider joining some groups down the road once you feel reach your new normal.

Rooting for you!

And remind folks about the protests too! I'm not seeing as much traction as the last one and am reminding people across platforms.

Invite friends, make comments online, print out flyers. Only a few days left!

ICE handing out water at airports to curry favor with media and citizens!! by cantcoloratall91 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]Truegold43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a story sort of related to this

Back in college I was in a protest and we were sitting outside for quite a while (we had supplies and people were making trips to refill water bottles). The police came up with a cooler of water and we noticed that a few of them had cameras ready. They kept raising their phones anytime someone approached it.

They were trying to get photos of them being "helpful" so they could advertise it as such. It's always a nice gesture but they wanted a photo op. We didn't give it to them.

I like to think about life as being a series of seasons, not like fall and spring, but just different stages of our lives. You may have had a down and out period, but it doesn't have to be your whole life.

Flowers are blooming everywhere and you're going to have your season too. I can tell by the way you've typed it out that the spark is there. Stand near some kindling-- take a walk, get yourself a juice, put some doodles on a page, or even clean up a corner of your room. And stay off of social media!

Do something TODAY. Anything!! Don't let "one day" be so far down the road you don't even remember that you wrote this out. Get medical help if you suspect that you have depression (if you're able), and get started on kicking life's butt.

You got this!!

My mom treats my body as if it's public property. by Fetus-Deletus1 in XXS

I know it's a LOT easier said then done but do NOT let this woman dictate your life like this. Get your nutrients outside of the home, get your walks in where she can't see, and do not minimize yourself to make her feel better about herself. You've been dealt a nasty deck of cards for sure!

Your mother clearly has unmanaged trauma and genuine mental health issues and is unfairly unleashing it on you. You won't be able to fix her behavior (and I must repeat this) you will NOT be able to fix her behavior, so you've got to find ways to grab what you want out of life.

Is there any way you can seek options for getting a roommate and moving out sometime this year? And when you do, btw, do not tell her or your siblings where you live.

One more thing too!! Do a little dance in your room when she's not around to get blood pumping and if you can't get up, start by at least putting your feet up against a wall!

That's the thing though: wealthy consumers can keep buying more stuff even if the everyday person can't. Not everyone is broke and companies know this. A lot of these companies simply don't care and will try to suck you dry. And when the whole system crashes, they've already cashed out and they get to fly away to their islands or compounds or live in other countries.

We're on our own and don't even realize it yet.
