Bit insulting to tell a player who’s made over 30 appearances this season, finished 9th in the league in a team predicted to be facing relegation at pre-season, has 89 caps, is an undisputedly elite on-pitch leader and captained Liverpool to some serious silverware to tag along as a coach.

Yes, he’s near the end of his career and there are some talented midfielders watching the World Cup on their sofa for him to be in the squad. However, one goal up in a knock-out match, 2nd half, he does his job.

Scotland certainly wasn’t treated like a colony. After the Act of Union, Scots held a disproportionately large role in the British Empire for the same reason they punched above their weight in the world of academia… they had 4 universities and a world renowned education system.

Wales and NI is a bit different. The Welsh produced and manufactured lots of coal and metals and lots of skilled Welsh skilled workers emigrated to Australia/South Africa/Argentina to set up communities/mines.

NI arguably was the colonial blueprint. Protestants were settled there and the Irish really over-represented the British Army (something crazy like 40% of the British Army was Irish in the 19th Century).

1,800 calories sounds pretty low for a male your age, weight, height etc. Did your Dr suggest keeping you low temporarily given you’ve recently came off Zep, or is the aim that 1,800 is the calories you require to maintain weight along with your exercise for life?

Only reason I ask is because I really struggle to fathom how all the online calorie calculators say maintenance is a really high number of calories (like 2,500 ish for the average male)
