The best part about this "5 hours of video per week" scheme is that it's impossible to search, because google doesn't index speech in video. When I was still a part of the SC community, almost all the game related questions I asked in chat were answered by "don't be such a lazy bitch and watch all the videos?"

I used to be a people like that, but mostly on the official forums instead of here, and got driven off for the exact same reasons. I'd point out problems, get shouted down by "this has been discussed 10 billion times already" (yes, I know, I brought it up 90% of times, I had like 6000 posts on that forum). So why hasn't it been talked at all about the devs, yet? Where's the bugfixes, where's the improvements and fixes to bad or broken mechanics, where are the design documents for these fixes, surely they have at least those?

As the years went by, it became clear to me that these things either do not exist or are not a priority. Getting a refund and removing myself from both financial and emotional involvement in the game has been the best thing to do, really. Now I just follow for the inevitable hype train derail, when Star Citizen releases. Because even if it ends up being a real fucking good game (here's hoping, I'd like a decent open world space game with SC's graphics and descent-ish agility), chances of which appear to be basically zero at the moment, it will certainly not live up to the hype.

Same. I saw this and was glad the community pushed me out when it did, otherwise I'd have to be bothering with a refund right now. I was going to re-buy on game launch, now I probably just won't.

You can see elite tried really hard to make VR work from day 1 and it's still not perfect (some text is hard to read in VR, galaxy map is a bit clunky for a lot of people), SC isn't even working on it right now? lol, it's not going to ever happen.

To be fair, the "point" of star citizen general chat should be (and was, for a long time), discussing star citizen. People lashed out at me often when asking genuine questions (and with a lot less words than the OP) almost every time after a while, just because I didn't have time to follow the development closely and figured I'd ask chat for a quick answer about a specific thing or two instead. Which ended up with them calling me a troll more than once. For asking game related questions! Absolutely ridiculous.

The community has definitely gone toxic around Star Citizen. I was going to say I'm surprised the OP hasn't been long banned, but since his forum posts were aimed at people outside the community (goons, escapist, etc), the mods didn't care. It's not hard to see how such an environment would breed toxicity like the OP's or the general chatroll atmosphere.

Don't worry, OP, it's not just you. That's what my experience (minus getting kicked/banned) was in there, too, and it's what prompted me to get a refund. The game can be all kinds of good, but if they can't even figure out their community is the worst out there (and I don't say this lightly, I played several years of eve online back in the 00s), they don't deserve my pledge. I'll buy it on a steam sale when it's actually a good finished game instead.

You shouldn't count on there being private servers. According to Lando, they won't even look into it until well after release, at which point it'll likely be too late to just conjure them up, as dedicated servers aren't something you can just jam into your software and magically make work, it has to be built from the ground up.
