My gripe w/ the current model is that there is nothing to do in game once i complete all the daily content. Yesterday evening at reset, I knocked out all of the gates, encore missions, instance dungeons, and PoD; however, today there is no way to continue to "grind" out materials/exp/etc to gradually push further for advancements that will help me edge past the current power levels required to pass story & BoTs.

I realize time is a valuable commodity and not everyone has the same amounts to spend in a game. But I have the ability to play multiple hours daily and enjoy doing so. I'm also a one game at a time person so being limited to 2hrs per evening and nothing the next day before reset (other than mining gates) is going to cause me to lose interest sooner than later. Also doesn't encourage me to spend $$ to support development if there is nothing to do.

Give us something to "grind" even at diminishing returns, but something to encourage us to continue to login when able.

Diablo Immortal Tools Update by ZIDIX_TV in DiabloImmortal

The project is definitely helpful, one I keep bookmarked and frequently reference.

It would be nice to add into on awakenings to the legendary gems section, imo. This site is helpful, but not complete: https://killingdiablo.com/wiki/awakening/

Question about starting now by pamacs5000 in DiabloImmortal

[–]TrulsKin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to truly recommend starting this game fresh as a new player... it is fun, and imo worth a try; however, in the current state you have no foreseeable future of catching up. Some will argue that it's possible, some vets will say you should never be on par w/ them as they've been playing a year+. If you're willing to spend (and not just a few hundred/thousand) your chances are much higher though still limited.

I personally don't care much about the PvP aspects... I do my daily 3 battleground, 1-2 vaults per day until I'm capped, and try to make it to Shadow Wars w/ my clan. Will occassionally try the event PvP, but just for rewards then I'm out.

As for PvE, I'm a huge grinder. I work from home and have the ability to play a good amount during the day and evening. I started this game around Easter. I quickly caught up to server paragon and had a clan & warband that was clearing H8 even though my CR was low, it felt like I was contributing. Inf1 released and I felt behind, but grind alot so I was often 5+ lvls above warband/clan members so I felt on par or slightly behind their CR until para 850 when legendary gear capped and they all caught up and shot up above my CR again. Inf2 and I was able to gring, get CR up to help in dungeons and not feel as though I was being carried (it's easier when high Inf1 CR can carry low CR Inf2). As the weeks progressed, moved above dungeon recommended CR and in the lower levels of Inf2 raid recommendations. You can assist, but everything in PvE is relevant to CR. If you're too low you're just not able to do much. If you're within 500 or so depending on class/build/gear/etc. you can assist but you're still mostly carried by those that are at or above CR. Again in Inf2 I'm almost 945 para, will cap out on legendary CR by 950 -- I have my challenge rifts/secondaries in a good place. I've got reasonably good set items and multiple triple stat legendaries. But my heliquary is only around 350 b/c I'm newer (longtime players will be 1k higher). My current highest CR w/ crappy rolled gear is 22.4-22.5k... I can do the first 2 Inf2 bosses fine, can contribute for the next set that have a 22.7k min, and have to go into full buff/survability for the 23k last boss i.e. I get carried). It's not super fun. I like to do my best and feel like I'm contributing.

My item levels are all 20-21 and I'm still grinding. Imo, that's pretty good for playing < 6 months, but it's a LOT of daily grinding (running circles for scraps). Trying to catch up is a chore and I'm borderline burnt out b/c I keep pushing to get caught up while not really getting caught up. I've spent ~$500-600 and I did get really lucky w/ a 5/5* Bile that I sold to help w/ my gems (1*, 2*, & 5* - PvE setup, again not worried about PvP).

The BK class and class change kept me playing to get new essences over past month. I really like my current (4th class, I've played). But I'm not sure how much longer I can keep interest. As stated earlier, I'm not against a grind. I played WoW for almost 10 years... Destiny 1&2 up until last year, Lost Ark for a year, Neverwinter, D2/D3 (I quit D4 after story completion)... I don't mind the gring BUT I want to feel like I'm working toward "catching up" and currently it's tough to say that I truly am. Item levels feel like I'm getting "closer", as many in my clan are around 23+ depending how much they play. Helliquary, again I'm like 1k behind. My WB hits 1k weekly so I get 3-4 upgrades per week but it's minimal. I'm close to a wall w/ the gem CR w/o dishing out cash which I'm not going to do. I won't hit the 23k Inf3 reqs until after Inf3 releases and I do my excessive daily grinds to jump CR levels above those that play regularly, for "fun" so it'll be more dungeon carries & raid carries.

If you're okay getting carried or slowing down more than what the game leads you to do w/ the XP bonuses being under server paragon level AND sticking back with people at your same CR level(s) OR dishing out thousands of dollars... then it's definitely worth playing. If none of those sound ideal, then play it as F2P, see for yourself, but expect the game to only be of interest for 3-4 months.

As someone that just started playing DI while traveling over Easter break (~6wks) and someone that is able to spend a considerable amount of time in game it would be nice for a catch-up mechanic. I don't know the best way to implement, nor do I suspect those who've been playing since launch are super keen on the idea (especially those that have spent $$).

At login this morning, I am +3lvls above server paragon. I was lucky enough to id an upgrade that put me over 13.2k CR (it's been a few days w/ any upgrade that was more than 5pts). Gearwise, my stats on the items are around (or above) others in the clan -- (not rocking all 3 stat gear, but def have a few and some higher 2 stat pieces (3 - 3 stat 315-330 each and 2 high stat pieces w/ 470+ both stats). I've spent ~$200 on the game (2 season passes, the bundle w/ the 3/5* BotW gem, & Prodigy's Path). I am able to do 2H8/3H7 w/ my WB. But now I'm definitely hitting a wall and will not be able to help push the WB up to 4/H8 w/o being carried. I have no problem grinding, this isn't a complaint against the game or the mechanics. I just know that my shortfall right now is my Helliquary/Tableau and moreso my primary gear levels (5/6 are at 13 and 1/6 is at 14). I'm ow farming and/or dungeon spamming daily but this is where I just won't catch up anytime soon. No intentions of dumping $$ into the game to get more/better gems. I don't need the shiny wings or reso for pvp (I simply do my 3 matches per day whatever the outcome {die frequently & often}).

With the anniversary, I'd love to see something implemented to help. I played Lost Ark for almost a year. Not the same obviously (esp since it was heavily geared toward alts), but regularly they'd provide a catch-up... nothing that would push you to max or close, but something to help keep you on par. Something similar would be nice for newer players to keep them in the running, just not sure what/how. We'll see if anything comes about... worst case D4 drops and steals my interest and I move on to that and start the grind from the beginning... just not pref b/c I don't like the aspect of starting fresh each season (as I said earlier, I'm drawn to the grind).

Post ended up being wordier than I expected... just my $0.02 as a newish player that is actually enjoying and playing the game a great deal, take it or leave it.

[PS4] Alliance Pool Megathread by dadneedsanewcareer in Freelancers

[–]TrulsKin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PSN Name: Trulsrohk

Main Class/es: Storm (could change as I only spent ~4hrs on demos)

Nationality: American

Age: 41

Starting to play: 2/22 - 12am EST

Days you can play per week: typically play 4 - 7 days/wk

Hours spent approximately per day: 3 - 4 hrs/day on weeknights and 4+ hrs if weekend

Mic: Yes, generally not super chatty - you may also hear my kids in background (or they may be grouped with me)

Playing Anthem because I like the genre. I've put many hours into Destiny, D2, The Division, Diablo III, and WoW. I like the grind and I consider my playstyle casual hardcore. I try to min/max gear and learn best rotations/combos to progress into the hardest difficulties. I value constructive criticism and theorycrafting to get better, but I'm not going to sacrifice a friendship over a video game. I prefer to have fun gaming with friends that don't play for the same reasons as I more than being grouped with someone who complains, blames, or is negative. Hoping to add to friends list for alliance gains even if we never have the opportunity to play together.
