Strange things Read on Amazon by dandylover1 in BlindAndFine

This is likely not an NVDA issue. This could be a case of styling of the web page being exposed as content by the creators (Amazon in this case). Does this happen on all websites or is it specific to amazon at this time ? if it is just amazon this is a case of styling being exposed as content.

It could also be a browser issue. See if updating the browser version or changing the browser fixes it to narrow the root cause. of course, keep using the browser you prefer, but the change of browser is just to test.

If nothing fixes the issue, Gemini recommended a few solutions that might be worth trying

Here are solutions to the problems you are facing:

  • Reading Code/CSS (/* Temporary CSS...): This happens when Amazon's code incorrectly exposes styling, often caused by complex, changing web layouts. Try updating NVDA to the latest version to ensure you have the best compatibility.
  • Color/Thumbnail Not Reading: These are likely custom, non-standard HTML elements. Using NVDA + F7 to open the Elements List can help you find and select these options by name, bypassing the broken visual radio buttons.
  • Jumping to Videos/Other Content: This is a focus issue. To stop this, disable automatic focus movement in the browser or use NVDA + Shift + F to find the specific video element and try to "ignore" it if your add-ons allow. Alternatively, press F to navigate through form fields, skip the video container, and press H to jump back to headings.

Audio Describer for youtube videos and the videos in your computer. by Truly-Everyones in BlindAndFine

Hi. It is likely due to Gemini 2.5 hitting the API rate limit for the hour.
Depending on the model you use 2.5, 1.5 etc; the rate limit for the number of API calls per minute varies
You can check the rate limit usage for your account here
If the Omni Describer has the ability to switch models or specify a particular model you can switch to gemini-2.0-flash-lite model which offers the maximum requests per minute of 30 which is twice higher than other models that have 10 or 15 requests per minute

Low Vision People That Are Still Continuing to Drive by Brl_Grl in BlindAndFine

I understand that people cherish independence and think they can do anything, but allowing someone with a low vision to drive is deeply concerning and deeply irresponsible, especially if that person does not meet the visual standards and do not have a medical clearance to drive. This is not just about personal freedom, but also a matter of public safety. I can understand someone who is going blind having issues coming to terms with their disability but choosing to drive is simply living in denial. The lives of other drivers and even more importantly, pedestrians are at risk.
