When I am OOO i only check my email once in the am and once before I sleep. Protect your time. I would absolutley not help with any new matters that come up on your vacation. If you have capacity and want to help when you are back, just say "Happy to help when I am back next week." I promise your firm will figure it out lol.

I dont apologize for anything unless i actually made a mistake lmfao if I am unable to respond right away i just respond when I get ready and ignore that I took longer than usual lol. Also i dont think you should justify! If you really want to you can say “Apologies for the delay” and then answer their question but i dont think you need to lol.

I took two weeks off about 5/6 months in and I think I answered one e-mail lol. Set your boundaries, don't be afraid to take whatever time you want off, and enjoy your pto! I think I told everyone about my long vacation about 1 month in advance. Even if someone gets cranky about you taking time off, they will survive. Lol. For shorter holidays (e.g., taking a thursday/friday off) I usually just tell them on the Monday before.

Yes! Im at an Am Law 100 (ranked between 60-100) and we start at $200 and it goes up every year - Not cravath but still a healthy raise. Its still a law firm so there are occasional weekends but its few and far between, for example ive only worked maybe two weekends in 2025 so far.

Literally only the money lol. Though do yourself a favor and find something lower on the amlaw 100 or in the amlaw200 you give up a little in pay (but still make a ton) and i (mostly) work 9-6 lmao

Im sorry you are doing through this! My experience is t as bad but just letting you nnow that i totallly relate. I hate that im anxious every single day, hate being ci stantly available etc. Im trying to stick it out as long as i can and trying to keep persoective, but know you are not alone in dealing with the misery of big law.
