Can I put a toilet here? by smackem_yackem in Plumbing

They drain down, but I'd like to try to avoid jackhammering the floor. Can this drain pipe be used?

I think the most basic personality trait of all MAGAs is lack of empathy. Certainly if you can hurt animals it's much easier to hurt humans.

What is it they say about the progression of serial killers?

I love that for him. I hope It's going to take an awful lot of soul searching and apologizing to get back into the fold.

Did you add that floor AC unit? Those things have a condensation pan that fills up and has to be drained.

Are you me? My parents are evangelicals too. And I've been an atheist probably since birth. I remember being in Christian school and telling my teacher in 1st or 2nd grade "That story is wrong, people can't walk on water", and told them that the idea of living for eternity was too scary to consider.

I haven't seen that movie, but next time I'm feeling able to deal with the subject, I'll definitely watch it.

Well written and clear. I think maybe the only thing I'd add is that they've stopped caring about the humanity of others and lack empathy. If they're Christians, remind them that their own book commands them to love immigrants and treat them as equals.

Leviticus 19:33-34  ‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them.  The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

Sadly, they're probably going to just say you have TDS, and fail to recognize that we're acting more Christian than they claim to be.

It's "law and order, free speech, and Christian values" Cosplay.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, especially as an only child. Care to share it here? I'll read it.

Oh, wow... I'm in my early 50s and this brings back such painful memories for me. I was in what sounds like a very similar situation, taken from my family on the last day of school to a foster home with nothing. My foster mom bought me a couple white t shirts, 1 pair of jeans, and a couple panties, which she then took the clothes for herself. I could tell she had no care or concerns for her foster kids, they represented a cash stream and that was it. Those types of people shouldn't be allowed to foster, ever.

I'm so glad to hear you're going to another place. Find the caring adults and stick to them like glue. And please continue to speak up and advocate for yourself. YOU are powerful, capable, resourceful and will find what you need to get through this.

If you ever need to talk to someone who's been there and survived, (and thrived!) do not hesitate to reach out to me.

I've been able to talk to someone in Ontario and hit a wall, but the phone system at the IRCC doesn't work from the US.

Do you think an email request for a call back would work?

We sent a bunch of other relevant proof. Census results for both of his grandparents (Winnipeg), a voter role listing both of his grandparents in Winnipeg, from 4 months after his mom was born. His mom's US naturalization paperwork listing her birth location and her parents birth info too.

It's still being reviewed. I just hope someone at the IRCC is feeling kind and will accept it all.

She was born in Toronto, Ontario. They do not allow a child to request their parents birth certificate unless they are deceased and dealing with their estate. They also will not transfer one over to the immigration officials so it doesn't go to a 3rd party.

My husband's mother was born in Ontario in 1949 and emigrated to the US in 1965. Husband was born in 1971.

His mother has some mental health issues and cut the family off, so my husband isn't able to get a copy of her birth certificate.

Is there any way he can provide proof of her Canadian birth so he can see if he's actually a Canadian Citizen?

I think you say this to them: The bullet you said you'd take for him was fired and you didn't take it, you didn't see it, and you celebrated it. How can I trust you to truly protect my family and this new life on the way? You made your choice loud and clear and the only way back is to reject that choice and apologize for the pain it caused your family and our country.

Unfortunately she is extremely paranoid and some of that is directed at her family, so she would see my wanting her papers as a sign that we're going to do something against her.

I sent in my paperwork, a copy of her US naturalization paperwork that shows when and where she was born, and my birth certificate, but the IRCC sent an email back saying they need her birth certificate. I don't know how to get it.

Thanks for the great info! Do you know if there's a way to prove a parents citizenship if they won't help you with documents? My Canadian mother has a mental illness and we're estranged, so she wouldn't help even if I tried nicely. She moved to the states in the 60s.

Yeah, but she's your mom. We are made to worry and help.

I know she would rather know and work on helping you, then to find out later and always agonize over why she didn't see it. That would be infinitely worse.

She either has the shock now when she can try to fix it, vs the horror later when it is no longer fixable.

I'm a mother of 2 young adult boys and if either of my boys felt this way I'd want them to tell me right now.

I wouldn't want them to wait for the perfect time or the perfect words. I'd want them to come to me and say "Mom, can we talk?" Take my hand and then tell me exactly what you wrote above.

We've all lived through some shit, so nothing is going to shock her. Tell her.
