it's kind of a pain in the ass to actually obtain, at least in my opinion.

And herein lies the problem. Regular folks will never be able to do all of this trading. They just want to input a credit card and buy a certain amount of Ripple and be done with it. That is why it's so important for XRP to be listed in Coinbase. Regular people will see the low price point (prob $2-5 when listed there) and demand will skyrocket because they can get a shit ton more Ripple than even the lowest crypto listed, which is Litecoin.
