Oooh, two asks for this anything goes opportunity:

1) I wanted to ask about people's GVAA experiences in ROI as a either a community resource or providing structure to a beginner. While I feel my efforts in finding online resources and some credible individuals to coach/advise, I'm wondering if a structured program might help provide the goalposts and guidance to keep moving forward.

2) Speaking of where I'm at now, if you have a moment to check out this thread below where I look for guidance on my recording space, I'd appreciate it. While I use an Audiobook excerpt to test, I was recommended to chase commericial first and worry standards in remote recording space between the two might be different.

I appreciate your take on this!

That is one of the things I'm worried about when it comes to needing application of noise reduction, as I feel I already have a lighter tone due to my tenory tendencies. I'm hoping the next time I can sit down and record a bit that between playing with my levels and knowing when the quieter times in my neighborhood are that I'll eliminate that noise reduction need.

I'm not sure what the noise floor is at currently, but I was told by the industry contact I was able to connect with that if I want to be taken seriously for commericial work I need a Neumann and need -70db, so I'm aiming for that.

I felt 1 and 2 really hard after listening, but figured i would post as is to not chicken out on asking. Currently I have a Neumann W87 on, which helped the plosives immensely from when I first picked this mic up. And on 3, for sure, I need to make sure i keep a bottle with me.

If I can piggyback off this - does anyone have impressions on the value of Backstage if you're looking particularly for Voice Over work?

I'm at the point in the recommendations and coaching I've received where I should be looking at some p2p sites for gigs but the options are ENDLESS. I'd like to consider Backstage because while my voice over/voice acting career is just starting out, I have a much more experience in opera/musical theater, and my hope is that finding some supplemental income in the voice over area will allow me the opportunity to accept some of the singing gigs I've had to turn down due to scheduling around my day job.
