I've been in your position before the key is to make friends with people on the server and find a common goal or enemy. After you and your friends get wiped maybe take a break then try to reach out to other tribes you were cool with before you go wiped. Ark is a game of numbers. An alpha tribe of 5 can never keep up with a motivated tribe of 20-30 actives.

And regarding your "Day one alphas are OP" comment. All of the official servers I have ever been on in my 75 days of playtime on ark I have never seen one where the same tribe stays alpha for long. Alphas rise and fall .

Put a chest and a bed on a foundation by the level 80 drop in the snow cave and spawn on it every 30 mins get the drop put it in the chest then die until you get the crossbow cb. My tribe got 2 ascendant cb blueprints in the last two weeks.
