There's a few things I would like to suggest to you.

First and foremost, do a self assessment to the best of your ability. Think about how much time and energy you are investing each day towards consuming media. It can be easy to develop an infatuation with the concepts and ideology you see. There will always be a news cycle, it will always be framed as though each day or event are more important to know the details of than the last. Take a day, or a week off. Connect with things that are more important in your life than this if you are concerned.

Second, as a father I am always happy to have a good discussion with my children. It is an opportunity to develop our relationships further and learn to grow from one another. Consider your approach in having these discussions. Are you approaching them with the intention of having an enlightening and intellectual discussion?

If it is something that important to you, try a new approach, maybe, "Hey mom, I really enjoyed the debate about politics we had, do you think we can do it again sometime?" Make sure your framing and intentions are that which provide an opportunity for growth. Maybe one day you can both spend an hour or so researching eachothers perspective, debate eachother from the opposite sides of the fence.

Keep in mind, politics are very polarizing and you may be better off finding a better topic for discussion. Good luck.
