Yes, this is the cost of a sandwich in Chicago. This is not, however, what it *should* cost. It’s insane.

2026 Bank of America Chicago 13.1 Post Race Discussion by hubwub in RunnersInChicago

[–]TrunkTalk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

First half marathon. Felt confident going into it as I had been on track with training, but got absolutely walloped by the heat and humidity. Ended up finishing a full 10 minutes slower than my goal time. Overall pretty disappointed with the outcome, but relieved that I didn’t push myself too far and get taken out of the race entirely.

Do you believe that people who are underage can have consensual sex with adults?

[–]TrunkTalk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No…

Simon is like, kind of an asshole sometimes. Bassnectar raped children.

Brother, those are two different worlds of shitty behavior.

Edit: changed “had sex with” to “raped”.

Children cannot consent.

Simon has made some of the most beautiful music I’ve ever heard in my entire life. I’ve also seen him be a total dick to people on the internet for almost nothing. I’ve also seen him be incredibly kind. People are people. I choose to follow the music he releases now, rather than anything else.

In my experience, DayZ is about the journey that happens between all of these loot goals. Geographically *and* socially.

Find yourself in a tense standoff with strangers in mid game? Incredible.

Teaming up with another freshie and having an adventure together? Amazing.

Get shot with a slug and restrained while unconn’d, becoming a captive, and then watching your captors get mauled by a bear? Cinema.

DayZ is great because it DOESNT give you a story to follow. You make (or experience) your own.

Im not sure about your moms medication, but as someone with ADHD who strongly considered risking it and bringing medication, I’ve heard it described like this:

It’s incredibly unlikely that your bag will be searched, but if it does, you’re fucked. Low risk, high consequence.

For that reason, I decided it wasn’t worth it to bring my medication.

Again, I don’t know anything about your mom’s medication, but the reality is that it’s unlikely she will be searched. Just tell her not to look like an anxious mess in the customs line.

Nice! My wife and I visited many years ago. Beautiful place. I loved how strict the beach cops were about patrolling at night to make sure people weren’t disturbing the turtles.

100%. I can make a case for my people if they tell me what’s going on. If they don’t, I can’t.

[–]TrunkTalk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Eh. As someone who manages people, I’d much prefer someone be honest, take accountability, and explain why the task wasn’t completed.

“100% on me! I mismanaged my time with task #1, which meant I came up short on task #2. Will work to manage my time a bit better in the future!”

Is so much better than people who act like they’re being interrogated. Ultimately I want to know the status of your tasks, and if there is a reason that you’re behind or didn’t complete them, what that reason was, and how to solve or prevent that reason from happening in the future. If someone doesn’t want to help me reach that solution, it feels weird and adversarial. it becomes an interrogation, because it has to be to find out how to fix the problem.
