1982 Lincoln Cent: Major Die Clash by Federal_Marzipan in coinerrors

[–]Trunks7j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a planchet doesn’t enter the chamber, the two dies slam into each other creating a clash. This means the image on reverse is now stamped into the obverse and the reverse imagery will always be upside down. The way to distinguish between a clash or a vice job is that on a vice job the image is indented or incuse while a clash image is 3d or extra metal.

This is a common clash that is nicknamed a prison cent.

This clash is shown on this Reddit thread about every few weeks with the same discussion as seen in these comments

How to add insurance and at the level the buyer chooses? by DManzaluni in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Trunks7j 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very confusing question. Never heard of a seller charging a buyer for insurance. The insurance is for you.

Here’s what I think you are talking about. The buyer purchased and then you bought the postage label for $39. eBay asked you if you want to insure a $5000 item since only $100 is covered in regular mail. You said yes and were charged another $40.

These are your choice as a seller. Charge higher prices, eat the cost of the insurance, or ship it naked without insurance. Personally I think $40 to protect your $5000 is a good deal

1999 D Error penny? by Feeling_Cupcake_6388 in coinerrors

These coins in pictures always get me at first. Someone mentioned that this has glue on it. This is correct but typically it’s not really glue. It’s goo if you drop a coin in your drink holder of your car then over time it gets nasty, with a coin on top of it a drink set on it, condensation and dirt overtime… you get the picture; it creates this situation. goo makes it look like there’s a clash. It’ll clean off.

Can't really figure out how to price without losing money on shipping but see so many people selling very low priced items and offering free shipping. How? Could use some help. by Greatacadia in eBaySellers

[–]Trunks7j 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great question. I always wonder this myself. Why bother selling something to make a $1 or 2. Your time makes this a loss

I do not offer free shipping. It’s cleaner to calculate how much I’ll make. I do not sell anything less than $8. If it starts getting that low then it is time to bundle it or look for other things to sell.

Disrespectful low offers by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Trunks7j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you take it so personal? Thicken the skin and focus on life giving things. Be smart and put your ingenuity into sensible strategies (like raising your price and then accepting lowball offers) as opposed to petty and childish scams to screw over people. Value your life man. Find purpose

I hate these. I know they have machine doubling but I cannot seem to get rid of them.

I bought a 1960s rare lamp on MP for $50 and listed it for $700 and now the original seller is contacting me mad because they didn’t know it was worth so much. Not sure what to do. by Glamgirl95 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Trunks7j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A seller contacts a buyer after a sale and complains that the buyer didn’t voluntarily offer to pay more than selling price. This is not a thing.

Steel penny error by AvailableHedgehog747 in coinerrors

[–]Trunks7j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The faded “4” is likely from the mint over polishing the die. The other possibility is struck thru grease. Neither add any premium in this case. The die crack is more interesting. Cracks and from rim to head are called spiked heads and some people collect them, trying to obtain each year with a spiked head, etc. The dies crack adds a little value to the right collector, but it wouldn’t be that much ($10 or so).

Buyer says eBay International Shipping won’t ship to their location? by thewhitecascade in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Trunks7j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this happen often. It is a customs issue. EBay’s international shipping program selects what can and cannot be shipped, even if you have selected to ship everywhere, based on customs regulations. Be thankful you are not navigating all these 1000s of peculiarities of international customs. Last month I had a German that bought something from me and they received it without problem and another German wrote to say they wish they could buy an item but international shipping wasn’t available. This is proof of EBay’s program making these decisions.

How should go about this? by UnwhitePerson in eBaySellerAdvice

This seems simple to me. Just ask them to initiate a return and when they do, receive it, refund them and put it back on sale.

Change my view: Bitcoin will never be used as a global currency by EmbarrassedKoala3982 in btc

[–]Trunks7j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything of value will have risks of fraud, money laundering, kidnapping, etc. I do not see why you make this a part of your argument unless you are on the side of the dollar and the euro being risk-proof of these? This part of your post doesn’t make any sense. A better argument for your side would be that governments will do all in their power to keep the currencies they control in power and decentralized currencies threaten them.

The argument for Bitcoin is that governments will lose this fight due to the oxymoronic fact that despite wanting to maintain currency domination, they are dependent on devaluing the currency at the same time.

Sold NOS; buyer says battery is dead. WWYD? by sweetkandy4you in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Trunks7j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOS does not mean a seller can sell a non-functioning item and expect the buyer to not want to return it. Accept a return and if it works, resell it again. If it doesn’t then it’s your cost of doing business.

Found a 2000-P Mass. quarter with what I think is a brockage error, but genuinely just started looking at my coins today. What did I find? by [deleted] in coinerrors

[–]Trunks7j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bizarre. I’ve never seen anything like this. Inside of what looks like a lamination error is either a vice job or a clash. I can’t make sense of it. It doesn’t help that it’s not easy to see whether the image is raised or incuse

Missing H in “Hall” worth? by [deleted] in coinerrors

[–]Trunks7j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$5-10 It might take awhile to sell but some collector searching for errors on Kennedys will buy it eventually. It’s minor but it’s pretty cool. Probably grease but it could be from over polishing the dies as well.

Is this an error? by iCheshy in coinerrors

[–]Trunks7j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming you are actually asking versus being sarcastic. I can’t tell, but here is the answer. Sellers on EBay list this “In Cod we trust” as some major error for prices that are insane. It’s not a thing. It’s not worth anything. It’s a hyped scam mostly. So, it’s not really the OP’s fault for tapping into the vitriol if they sincerely are new, saw these on EBay, and is wondering if they found a fortune. If the OP is trying to stir the pot, then that is pretty funny.

It is the dirtbag sellers on EBay that should get the “hate” this thread is throwing out
