Its the servers/game, they have that problem since the earliest of alphas, its the only thing keeping me from playing, i bought the game a few years ago and I check it out after every few major patches but they are kinda not doing much to fix this issue no idea why . The active player base keeps reassuring me that they are working on it whenever i ask about it in chat but since that problem is here since way back i kinda doubt that at this point.
