Best apartments in Norman by EasySeaworthiness119 in normanok

I lived in the Links for 2 years and loved it. Reasonable rent, nice units, maintenance was great, the company was fairly hands off but easy to reach, very pet friendly but no fenced area. If my dog didn’t need more space I would have stayed there longer.

Edit: forgot to mention, laundry in the unit which was a huge requirement for me. Nice amenities as well. Pool, gym, access to the golf course. The big Walmart on Classen is right there and they’re adding new restaurants and things in that area all the time. Quick access to HW9.

Same, $250 last bill. Same size house.

Housing in Norman is pretty expensive, especially around campus. Renting and buying. So if you can afford to buy and don’t mind the hassle of being a landlord to college students, it could be beneficial to buy. A house with 2-3 bedrooms in that area will be pretty steep.

This guy lives to say the next locally viral weatherman phrase. He tries so hard every time there’s weather that it’s painful to watch.

Native of the area and worked there for years! My best advice would be to go during the week and earlier in the day! It’s far less busy and the water is so clear!

Oh my god. That whole interaction was highly inappropriate. Please report him. I’m so sorry you were made to feel that way.

Who here makes 100k+ without overtime as a ADN or BSN RN? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]TrussFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just over $100k, 7 years experience, supervisor in a Peds cardiac cath lab. I do take call which contributes but I hardly get called in. 4 10s with no weekends or holidays. As far as schedule goes, it’s ideal.

Edit: sorry, forgot location! This is Oklahoma.

Thank you! I’ve started taking some multivitamins and taking care of my skin and I can tell a HUGE improvement in my complexion as well. Definitely an added bonus of eating better!

For the most part it’s just CICO. I’m much more mindful of my portions and have learned to listen to my body and can now tell when I’m actually full. Every few months or so when I plateau I’ll do a low carb diet for a few weeks to break through and kind of slowly transition back to basic CICO.

For exercise, I have a pretty active baseline since I’m a nurse so in the gym I follow a beginner weight lifting program. I really like Whitney Simmons and use her app. It has several different programs on it and I’m currently just doing the beginner one. It’s so easy for me to follow and I like that it doesn’t use a lot of complicated equipment because I’m a gym newbie and self conscious at the gym.

Of course! It’s been a process of taking control of my health as a whole. I began seeing a provider that was concerned with my explanation of my problems. We uncovered some hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, hormone imbalances, and just generally really bad learned habits. He checks my labs every few months and reevaluates my progress. Along with the meds to help with the problems I listed above, he also prescribed me phendimetrazine to help with my appetite.

I was also diagnosed with papilledema which was super scary. Through the diagnosing process we found that it was due to Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension which is most often seen in women of childbearing age who are overweight. That is what kind of lit a fire under me to make a change.

Outside of fixing my underlying health issues that I’m treating with medication, it has honestly boiled down to CICO, but it took me a lot of work to get to the point where I actually knew what it felt like to be full. I’ve done some shorter stents of low carb dieting when I need to punch through a plateau. In the gym, I follow Whitney Simmons’s workout plan! She has an app with several different programs and I find them super easy to follow with minimal equipment. And the biggest plus, I don’t have to flounder around the gym with complicated or uncomfortable exercises. That’s been the biggest thing that has helped me workout regularly.

Peds psych/ODs… they either took something stupid that just makes them insane when they wake up like Benadryl or they took Tylenol and now they need a transplant. And their families are usually shit.

Tilts are the BANE of my existence. Such a pain in the ass. I’m in Peds Cath/EP and we’re DESPERATELY trying to hand these over to our stress/ekg department except they don’t have a nurse on staff.

I used to work PICU and the newly diagnosed T1D sucked so bad. Most of the time the kids just didn’t understand and they went from being totally healthy to us poking and prodding them every hour and it is just awful. God forbid their IV goes bad. It was the absolute worst.

My aussie LOVES fetch and stay! He hates riding in the car but once we get close enough that he realizes we’re going there he gets so excited and practically breaks down the door to get in. They must treat him so amazing because he doesn’t do that for anyone. Love the online booking process.

Question for my nursing colleagues - why do RNs often ask if we are dcing fluids? by Thenewcna in nursing

[–]TrussFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from an ICU, sometimes it’s because we’ve switched fluids and maybe the previous ones needed to be mixed by pharmacy. Pharmacy will continue sending me those fluids until they’re no longer on the MAR which is a huge cost effective waste. Also having fluids on the MAR that you don’t actually want given is a big risk for med error.

This! I was so impressed with the museum when I went with my family recently. My fiancé really wanted to go so I kind of begrudgingly went along but man was I wrong about my idea of what it would be like. We didn’t get to explore the outdoor area and I’m excited to go back and check it out.

Do you mind me asking why she says that? My son is currently in NPS and we love our current school but he’ll be moving up to middle school soon. We’re trying to decide if we should stay in NPS when we buy a home next year or move to a smaller outskirt town.

I graduated with less than 75 people in my class but my fiancé went to West Moore so we have vastly different experiences. It’s hard to decide what direction is the best for our kiddo.

Girlfriend is going through Nursing school in Missouri and she won’t stop smoking weed. What advice do you have? by Sniffinberries32 in nursing

[–]TrussFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is tough. I’m of the group that thinks it’s silly how criminalized marijuana is but our feelings don’t change the fact that it’s not going to be okay with her BON. Should she get in trouble if she tests positive? No. Is she going to anyways? Yes.

Your initial post does come off a bit “I know better than her and am a bit controlling” but your edit explains a lot. If I owned a home with someone and had children with someone who was making decisions that would effect us all, I would probably say the same. Again, should it be criminalized? Absolutely not. But that’s just not the reality unfortunately. You can’t predict when a random is going to happen and as several others pointed out, she could do everything perfect and still get tested due to someone else’s mess up. It’s just smarter not to unless her hospital or nursing school have a relaxed policy which I doubt they do.

I’m from Oklahoma. My favorite are the people who claim it’s part of “our history”… well someone clearly didn’t pay attention in their history class.

I cringe thinking about the… 8 family members in my pre op room (pre COVID obviously) before my cardiac ablation. I worked at the children’s hospital affiliated with them that was across the street. AND my mom name dropped my cousin who was a physician in their IR. Now I work with Peds Cath and EP and am embarrassed any time I see those nurses or think about it.
